We started watching the first season this past week. OMG it is so good!!! Where have we been???
I get confused from time to time on who people are and what their relationship to others are. I feel like I need to keep a cheat sheet while we're watching!

@mediagirl: oh yeah, Ciersei and Jamie Lanister sent me to Wikipedia. Apparently, in ancient times that was the thing to do if you were a twin. Gross!

Aaah Game of Thrones. Love it. I do enjoy the book smuch more than the show though. It can be hard to keep up, but this wiki is awesome http://awoiaf.westeros.org/.
Careful of spoilers though since you are only on season 1.

I've watched all of the episodes, absolutely love the show! I'm going back now to read the books... Almost finished the first. It is really good too! Usually I prefer to read the books before watching the movie/show, but in this case I think it might ruin the element of surprise when I'm watching and already know what is coming up. Plus, it's nice to put a face to the name when reading!

LOVE IT! The TV series is amazing.. not totally in sync with the books but even the variations they're putting in are awesome. I'm currently finishing up Feast for Crows (Book 4) and can't wait to start the next!!
Looking forward to the next season of GOT to come out!

I'm slowly making my way through the second book...I'm about halfway through now...I started the series when I got pregnant with E, and he'll be a year old next week...
I LOVE the show and can only get through the books because I have a general idea of where the plot is going (and having faces helps me keep everyone straight--even though normally I hate that!
I think the show is brilliant, incredibly well-made, perfectly cast, and the title sequence is one of my favorites ever.

Oh man, DH looooves Game of Thrones. He has been talking about these books for years. So I watched when the show came out to be supportive, but ended up really liking it. I too have to ask questions to keep stuff straight sometimes, but I agree that rewatching really clears things up. Holy moley though it gets betttter!

I read the books years ago and am dying for the next one to come out...I'm honestly worried the author may die before her finishes! That would be a tragedy. I think they've done a really good job keeping the show right in line with the books. Sure there are some characters merged together or plot lines sped up, but that's because it's TV!
I know I've seen a cheat sheet somewhere online, and maybe p&p have posted the link Plus, you could always ask one of us GOT fans on HB!

@MamaMagpie: I haven't started the book yet because I *hate* reading a series and waiting for the next book, but they've been staring at me from my nook library for months. I'm gonna cave soon and fingers crossed he finishes that book!!
I just wish each season had more episodes! I feel like they go by way too fast!

@MrsRoo: oh my goodness, that's self-control! I read books 1-4 only a few months before he came out with book 5 and now that it's been like a million years, I'm in withdrawal! Ok, maybe just a tad dramatic
But seriously, have you ever seen good ol' George RR Martin? He's pretty old and pretty unhealthy-looking. Scared.
