If you had a C section, why? Stalled labor? No dilation? Very large baby, etc.. Just curious... I have unrealistic thoughts I will go full term with this baby and need C section based on how large this baby is measuring. (previously had DS at 34 weeks and DD at 36 weeks)... so I'm thinking irrationally.

Failed induction.
I had to be induced at 37 weeks for severe pre-e and my body just wasn't ready and they couldn't get me to progress at all. After 36 hours, I was only at 4 cm (all done manually with the foley balloon) and had been stuck at that same point for almost 24 hours. We went for a c-section at that point (and had a super easy recovery).

Emergency c-section due to LO heart rate crashing after the midwife broke my water. Turns out the cord was wrapped around her and she couldn't drop and each contraction was compressing the cord.

Emergency c-section related to a failed induction (heart rate deceleration in LO). LO was also wedged into my pelvis and OB felt like given the position a natural birth was unlikely even without the heart rate issues. Second was an elective RCS.

Breech (head down until 39 weeks!!!) and I didn't want to attempt a version. FWIW, it was a great experience.

Failed induction. I was induced at 36 weeks because LO stopped growing in utero (IUGR), and the induction didn't take. 12 hours of Cervadil and 12 of pitocin and I dialated 1 cm, so they decided to take her out to avoid causing her distress.

Breech baby, had an ECV which caused a placental abruption leading to emergency c-section at 37+0.
For what it's worth, despite doing everything I could to avoid a c-section (attempting a painful ECV for breech baby) I ended up with a C-section after all. And it was actually a great experience.

Large baby. They estimated him to be over 9lbs, he was 8lbs 10oz. I had a good experience and recovery wasn't bad at all.

@oliviaoblivia: for your first large baby did they just schedule a c-section based on ultrasounds or was it something that happened during labour? And for your subsequent big babies were size ultrasounds accurate? Did they ever discuss vbac possibilities? I ask because my first was a c-section because of her size, done once I had been induced at 42 weeks and pushed for 2 hours. They said she was stuck. She was 9.14 and the doctor said subsequent babies are usually bigger.
@BandDmommy: done due to size after 42 weeks and being induced and pushing for two hours with no progress in the second hour. At 41 weeks they estimated she would be 9.3, but she ended up being 9.14

@Mrs. Goose: my first was induced on her due date for high blood pressure. The induction went no where. She was 10lbs 1oz. They had predicted 10lbs.
My second was an RCS because I had made no progress by 39w4d and didn't want to risk a postdates VBAC with another large baby. They predicted her to be nine pounds with a very large head. She was born three days before her due date at 8lbs 10oz and a 100% noggin.
DD3 is scheduled tomorrow at 38w4d because she is measuring over 100% and predicted to be between 10-11 pounds on her due date. -
I had a vaginal birth with my first but an emergency C-section with this one. She hadn't moved at all after 3 hours of pushing so the doctor said I could try pushing for another hour or go into surgery. I tried to push one more time and threw in the towel. I had been up for more than 24 hours straight by the time she was born and had even gone to work for the full day the night I was admitted.
He tried to give me a pep talk about how I did my best blah blah blah and I cut him off and told him to go scrub up. Apparently he asked DH if I was mad at him and DH told him I was just tired.

Because I wanted to, and when I talked at length and multiple times with my provider, that's what we agreed the best option was for me and LO. As it turned out (and was predicted) LO had a 99+% head, so I'm happy with my decision
and had a great overall experience!

I am going for a VBAC this time, but baby is currently breech, so we'll see. i had my first chiropractor appt today. Baby was average size last time and is measuring average this time too.

Large baby and GD (so they were going to induce anyway and I didn't want a failed induction), as well as other medical factors. I had a RCS for LO2.

I'm en route to having a c-section due to a previa that's being stubborn and won't move out of the way. Or rather, stay away. lol

Because DS was breech... He had just flipped and my water broke at 36 wks.

Breech baby. I declined trying an ECV (OB was skeptical that it would have been successful given the placement of my placenta, but I was just uncomfortable with the idea). C-section went very smoothly.

1- emergency c section after a failed induction and long labor.
2- RCS at 39 weeks
3- RCS at 36 weeks. I had a complete previa and I bled a lot at 35 weeks. I was on bed rest at the hospital and modified rest at home until I delivered the following week. -
My daughter never progressed. I was at a 10 and pushed, but she never dropped. She was 9lns 6pz and 22 inches, it would have sucked coming out the other way! And then all the rest were repeat csections.

Pretty much the same situation as @MamaG. Water broke, no contractions for 24 hours, long induction that failed, DS was wedged sideways (doctor later discovered I had a very deep pelvis, whatever that means?). He wouldn't come down far enough to push, and his heartrate started dipping. Emergency C-section, which went really smoothly except for the fact that my uterus wouldn't contract because it was so tired from the induction, so they had to hustle a little bit at the end with some extra drugs to get me to stop bleeding.
DS2 is due in May and we are going the RCS route. We have a toddler at home and I do not want to go into the newborn haze on 2 days of no sleep like last time!

Late heart Decels - she just wasn't handling my contractions and labor progressing, and her heart rate would rise and fall so I had an emergency cs.

1 - uterine rupture and emergency csection at 22 weeks
2 -scheduled RCS at 36 weeks, baby came 10 days early so unscheduled (but not emergency) csection
3 - just scheduled my RCS today for 36 weeks! -
I was induced at 41 weeks. Was in labor for 24 hours. Dilated until I reached 9cm and then stalled there for 4 hours. Had to have and emergency csec. She ended up being sunny side up (facing up) when they pulled her out and Doctor suspects that's why she was stuck.

Breech baby - they didn't realize until I was 39 weeks and my amniotic fluid was low so they said I wasn't a candidate for an ECV.

He was completely corked in my pelvis.
