A little harder because I'll turn around and she won't be there!

In the words of my cousin "now they can move around.... With THINGS in their hands!". Obviously they can carry small stuff around when they crawl but I think that in general they can more easily get into things with their hands free.

I actually LOVED it when she started walking. I could take her to the playground and she can let loose. I just found things so much easier!

I don't think it was any different in terms of getting into things. She got into things way more when she was crawling!

I'm not there yet, but I have a lot of family/friends with older kids, and they all LOVED it when their kids started walking! Well, except my SIL when her kids started walking right before we were headed to the lake for a week, but that was only because it was harder to keep them on the dock

I actually couldn't wait for her to start walking. Well maybe that's not the right term, more I was looking forward to it. DD was such a clingy baby, I really wanted to see her grow more independent. Sure it's more work chasing after her when we're out, but she's learning to wait (kind of). Hehe.

But now that I see babies that are just starting to walk, I admit that I look back at that stage and sigh a little. It's such a sweet, sweet stage!

i loved it once charlie could walk. that's when things got easier.

i loved it once olive could walk too because she was such a late walker, i had to carry her everywhere.

This statement made me so mad. Know what? I LOVED it when my daughter started walking! It made my life so much easier and I love seeing her toddle around and stumble around like a drunk.

@mrskc: its definitely different once they walk. Even though your LO is fast at crawling now they are limited to things they can reach when they crawl. Once they are upright and can walk they can reach a lot more and cause a lot more havoc

The first few months after she started walking were a pain, but it gets easier and funner. It's nice that DD can walk anywhere and hold our hands when we're outside.

LO is cruising but no interest in walking - none! if you hold your hands out to her, she hides her face playing shy. won't touch her walker toy, either. I can't wait til she can walk because then she will hopefully not be crawling around on the dirty floor anymore!

Why? Because they think because they're 'veteran' parents they've earned a badge that allows them to warn you about how awful things could get. I hate these conversations. EVERY child is different. Jake isn't so bad most of the time, but he was a crazy Crawler too so maybe we got used to it earlier.

I was excited for Chloe to walk! I love watching her grow up. And, her walking was easier for us because she could follow us to rooms and we didn't have to carry her everywhere.

Like someone else mentioned, now they can walk AND hold stuff at the same time! Even at 2 it creates some messes but I let it roll of my back. There's nothing we can't clean up!

Maybe I've blocked all the bad stuff but I really don't recall being anxious that I had a walker.

Its good and its bad! Being pregnant it is great to just set her down and let her follow me instead of carrying her. However, the house has become considerably more of a wreck. She can reach some light switches and tops of cupboards and does everything SO quickly. It is just a bit more work and a bit more chasing. Especially when you are visiting non baby proof places.

Walking is awesome. I can't wait for DD2 to walk as well!

I also LOVED it when our LO started walking. Life got way more fun as a parent and he seemed like he was having so much more fun exploring too. Another plus was that he wasn't completely ruining all of his pants and sleepers anymore by burning holes in the knees!

I think we're also fortunate because he doesn't really get into much trouble. We've barely babyproofed our house (no gates or cabinet locks...just some socket covers), he isn't much of a climber and if he moves stuff all over the house, he understands when we ask him to put it back.
