Money. Always comes down to money.

A combo of being tired, weird work schedules and a somewhat needy baby. we have two dates planned this month!

We haven't had a babysitter other than family. My family is typically busy and I feel guilty when I ask them to babysit. We don't go out unless they offer. But recently, we found a babysitter who our kids love so I think we'll try to go out more often.

Also, DH works a lot so on his days off, he usually wants to see the kids too.

DS goes to bed at 7:15 so we are more inclined to pick up food and have a stay date. I think some of that is personality driven, some of it is just being plain lazy (I wanna wear my pajamas on my date).

No baby sitter. We live three hours away from family and don't have a sitter here. Definitely no one that could put him to bed. Most of my friends use family as sitters so it's hard to find a recommendation.

everything is super expensive. babysitter, the date itself, and if we want to drink at all then add the expense of a cab as well. it's like paying for the date twice over!

We prefer to stay in and drink/watch a movie/play boardgames etc. WAY cheaper.

#1 I've only ever had family babysit and I feel guilty asking.
#2 I'm tired.

Someday we'll date. Someday. I am okay with car dates while my kid sleeps for now.

I put other because the only person I would trust with them is my mom but she already watches them when I'm at work so I feel *so* guilty for asking. Luckily she volunteers to watch them about once a month on a weekend so we could do something. I honestly don't think we need more than that.

Tired and our babysitters are family/friends so also working around their schedules. It's easier for us to do things separately--go hang with friends or something than a date night together. We do have a possible babysitter lined up to start doing monthly dates (a friend's daughter) so I hope this rare date night thing changes soon.

I put other right now b/c we don't go out that often since DS2 is still young and isn't always the best sleeper. My parents live really close so they are more than happy to come over to watch the boys but DS1 is in a super clingy phase and freaks out if I leave him and DS2 doesn't have the best sleep routine (but we're getting there). Once the boys are a little bit older and more predictable, I imagine that we'll go out more. But I'll probably try to get a back up babysitter too since I feel bad always asking my parents to watch the boys.

Inertia. It takes effort, and I don't have the energy.

I voted other. LO1 has always been a terrible sleeper and getting her down was/is super hard. She also doesn't go down until 8:30 at the earliest, and that's late for me to go out! I just don't want to put that on someone else (my mom can do it though). Until August I was in school and my family was helping a lot so we wouldn't have to pay for as much care, and I didn't want to ask them for even more than that. Then LO2 was born in October, and it's a lot to handle both, since LO1 is still really needy. When their older, until then we just go out all together.

Money and time. I work crazy hours, and we have other priorities for money.

Family isn't super close by, it's expensive to go out, we like to stick close to home, we don't have a ton of family time, baby is still little (4 months), I have a hard time leaving her, we have my stepson every other weekend, I like to cook and have a hard time justifying a lot of dinners out, the list goes on.

Our DD was being treated for a hereditary seizure disorder for 2 years (started at 6 months old) so we had a long while where we didn't feel comfortable leaving her with a non-grandparent. Once her meds & situation was better under control, we opened an account with care.com (about a year ago) and found some great babysitters. We started going on dates once a month and it was awesome.

Now we are expecting LO#2 in March, so we will probably hunker down and stop going out (aside from grandparent babysitters) until LO2 is a little bit older.

We have no babysitter!

DH and I are homebodies, for the most part. LO is only 5 weeks old, but her grandparents have already expressed their willingness/eagerness to watch her if we suddenly decide we'd rather go out to dinner than order Chinese.

We work opposite schedules (I work days, he works nights and weekends) so the time we get to spend together we like to spend as a family. You know, so our son remembers he has two parents that live together

ETA and we don't have family or a regular sitter available if the opportunity comes up last minute.
