My mil and mom will occasionally share a picture I took of lo with their friends. I don't mind at all. I think its sweet that they want to show lo off! I trust that they don't have any weirdo friends so I'm not worried about who's seeing the pictures. But I've noticed a lot of people get upset by this.

I never understand why people get so upset about this either. I think if you put pictures on facebook you have to accept that they are pretty much out there for everyone to see, so why get upset if your family is sharing a picture because they are proud of your LO?

I don't like it because one of them has over 1,000 friends. You can't know that many people that well! If they were just friends with people they were actually close with..I wouldn't care.

No LO to take pictures of, yet. But I had people loading pictures of my wedding, at the wedding. Which annoyed me because those are the ones people saw, vs. the ones I uploaded and paid alot of money for & by that time no one cared because they'd seen them 100x in cell-phone quality by guests.

I think it's great they are sharing photos that were already posted. If you don't want your kid's photos all over facebook, don't put them up to begin with

Because I dont want strangers having access to my baby's pictures online. People can easily copy and save pictures from facebook and I dont want strangers having the ability to do that. They are my photos and I want to share them with my friends and family only and not strangers whom I dont know.

I set up my parent's Facebook accounts and set the privacy settings so no one but their friends can see their photos. I'm okay with them sharing photos since they're not sharing them out to the world.
ETA: I should also mention, I don't post that many photos of our lo on Facebook. We have a Tumblr blog that I use to share photos and only a few friends and family have that account.

I agree with @Mrsbells. Plus, you don't know how they set up their privacy settings...they could possibly have "friends of friends" or "everyone" see their photos. I usually refrain from posting pictures of my friends' babies/kids because you never know how they'd feel.

I had a lot of issues with my parents spilling information in regards to my pregnancy to people before we were ready to share the news (telling people wrong information, sharing the gender, sharing the name, etc.), so I'm assuming this type of thing will probably bother me also. Luckily, we are no longer Facebook friends. It is better for everyone. They can post whatever nonsense they want to, I can't see it, and I don't have to worry about getting pissed off about it.

it annoys me because the same as some PP - I don't know who they're friends with. I also get annoyed because one of my grandmothers will screenshot the picture on her ipad and repost is as her own. It drives me NUTS - she only met her once in the hospital, and it looks like she has her 24/7.

@Mrsbells: This. Exactly. It was such a drama fest trying to explain this to my parents that I just gave up and conceded that as long as I don't see them posting stuff, that is better for everyone.

I don't have this issue since I don't have kids but I would check your Facebook settings if you are annoyed by this.
Make sure your profile is not 'public'. Check your setting, I set my profile viewable to friends of friends but in one of the fb updates, this was set back to public on anything new I posted.
If you set your profile viewable to friends of friends, when a friend shares the photo or album only mutual friends will see it. I noticed that one time when I tried sharing a photo from one of my friends. It would show up on my profile but only our mutual friends would see I shared it since the friend's album viewable settings still remain the same. I noticed this because I went under my DH's account and saw that he could not see the photo I shared because he was not a mutual friends with this friend.
Anyway, take away message is set your albums to be viewable to 'friends' only. That way only YOUR friends see the photo when and if it is shared.

@sorrycharlie: oh, the screenshot share. That would annoy me.
My DH posts his artwork on Facebook and he puts a huge watermark over what he posts to protect himself.
This is totally passive aggressive but if I had your problem, I would add a little text to the bottom of my photos.
Like a 'This album is viewable to a select group. Please protect our privacy and don't reshare any of these photos. Thanks'.

I have occasionally shared (via the "share" button) a pic of my niece that my SIL posts (maybe twice?) I hope she didn't mind! I figure if you put it on FB to begin with, you have to know that it's out there for everyone to see forever. I mean technically FB owns your photos to do what they want with them, right?

@Rachel: lol seriously! shes the most annoying facebooker ever. she posts viral photos & tags a million people in them, too. i had to change my settings to approve tags because she was junking up my wall

I was really mad when I found out that one of Hubs's cousins copied a picture of me and emailed it out to the rest of his family who isn't on facebook - other cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. We went to a family party and everyone was like "Oh, I saw your picture! So-and-so emailed it to all of us!"
Hubs thinks I'm being ridiculous, because, after all, the photo is on facebook for "all the world to see." First of all, my profile is set to private so that only my friends - the people who I CHOOSE - can see it. Second of all, if people wanted to see a picture, they could have asked. I was REALLY mad. So I have now blocked restricted his entire family's access to my facebook page. I'm still friends with them, but they pretty much can't see anything.
