I have a Sephora gift card to use. Everyone seems to rave about these eyelash curlers. Is there some reason that it's better than any other curler? Convince me that I need it!

I liked it for a little while but I don't think it's better than any other eyelash curlers.

I'm not sure about Shiseido but I love my Shu Uemura curler. Nothing can replace it!

I used two different curlers before getting it and it's by far my favorite. I don't think they sell it at Sephora any more though.
ETA: Responded too quickly. Mine is Shu. Whoops.

@spaniellove: @oliviaoblivia: Ooh, I was thinking of Shu Uemura! Darn. I got excited when I saw it on Sephora's website. Wrong S name.

@spaniellove: @oliviaoblivia: I've heard raves about the Shu Uemura curler before. What is amazing about it?

@LindsayInNY: @mrs. 64: Trying to think back to when I used a Revlon because I couldn't get ahold of a Shu for a while...it has just the perfect amount of pressure which gives the perfect curl even if I hold it for a second! No crimping or weirdness or doing it over and over. And it never pulls out my precious lashes!

@LindsayInNY: I answered about the Shu too. Lol. It's not that great!

I have a Revlon, Shiseido and Shu and I can't really tell the difference between the Shiseido and Shu. However.... I am using Shiseido pads in my Shu now.
They are both way better than the Revlon! The shape is slightly different and it just works with my eye shape better.

I used to love my Shu, except I developed a metal allergy and would get a little rash at my eyelash line from using it daily! I had to switch over to a plastic Japanese curler.

@HLK208: It's 20% off today but I'm really hesitant to buy it if it's truly no different. =/

Sephora has a fabulous return policy and they encourage you to try things and bring them back if you aren't satisfied so you may as well give it a try!

I used to use Shu but when it became unavailable in the states (I needed refills of the little rubber pad) I switched to Shiseido and I like it so much better!! I think it totally depends on your eye shape what curler fits you best. I tried revlon one once and it worked really well too.
For me, as long as it has a HARD rubber pad (not a soft foam one) it works pretty well. But I still have to replace the rubber pad once or twice a year... I curl my eyelashes a LOT because they are stick straight and thick.

@LindsayInNY: just got my order. ANDILOVEIT!!!
i've used both sephora and shiseido, and LOVE THIS SHU THE BEST. Shiseido is a close second tho...

I had the revlon until I met Shu. Love the shu. My eyelashes are straight and I can get even the smallest lashes in the corner of my eye curled.

I love the Shu eyelash curler. I used to use it all the time, but they stopped selling it in the US about two years ago. You can get it online now (which is what I do), but there was a time when you couldn't get it at all. In the interim, I tried Cover Girl, Revlon, and the Sephora brand curler. Hated the drugstore curlers. The Sephora curler is okay, and it was my go-to until I could get Shu again. The problem with the Sephora curler is that the pad wears out really quickly, so you have to crank the curler to get it to work. That just seems too harsh for my eyes.
Pros about the Shu (and why I spend the big bucks to get it):
Your lashes never get stuck
The pad lasts for a long time, and the curler comes with 2
It works *really* well on my stick-straight eye lashes
It works with minimum effort, meaning that it's quick and I don't feel like I am pulling/harming my eyes
No crimping

@mrsjyw: Really?!? How is it so much different/better? I'm using a basic Revlon one and I don't *love* it. I have a hard time curling with it. I usually blame it on the pads and replace them but sometimes it doesn't seem to make a difference.
@septca: You might have sold me on it with your pros list... I think I need to just suck it up and splurge.

@LindsayInNY: that's exactly what i love about it! it doesn't catch (pain free), super easy, and the hold is super firm too! i usually have to curl, mascara, and recurl, and this one is just one time BOOM, my lashes are set. I bet they'd even stay up without mascara (tho i haven't tried!) like i'm totally kicking myself for not having bought one sooner (just because it was online)! Esp with the coupon, well WORTH IT!...

Also love the Shu. Does anyone know if it's possible to buy refill pads? I actually bought a brand new one online a couple months ago b/c the 2nd pad on my old one had a big groove in it and wasn't working as well as it used to. Seems like a waste, but couldn't find just refills!

@mrsjyw: I'm kicking myself now for not buying it when they had the coupon!! Gah! I don't know how often they have online coupons either...
