I am an average sized person, but for some reason my calves are too big for most standard sized boots. It sucks!
Anyone else have this issue? If so, where have you had luck finding wide/extended calf boots? I just ordered the "Bookers" from J. Crew (it's on sale- yay!) and I am hoping and praying that the extended calf is big enough.

I have the same problem. My favorite brand so far has been Bandolino. They're slightly big on my calf near the top but they're comfortable and cute!

Have you tried ordering from "plus size" retailers? My calves are bigger too (years of soccer) and I have good luck with that. A lot of stores/sites for plus sizes carry bigger sizes and widths in shoes too.

@mandb36: That's funny - I was just considering a pair of Bandolino's. Macy's is having a decent boot sale, so they would have been really well priced. I hate ordering boots online since it's so risky, but it's just so much easier than getting myself out to the store with LO.
@zippylef: I haven't, but one of my friends has had luck that way. We always laugh at the terrible names, though. I think there's an online retailer called "Woman Within"? LOL!

Zappos? You can sort their boots by wide calf..and they usually have pretty thorough reviews. Free shipping/free returns (you have up to a year to return!)

Not sure, but want to hear what people say! I got a pair (my only pair) of decent boots last year at DSW. I think they were the wide calf ones.
Years of skiing and snowboarding have given me monster muscle calves, so boots are hard for me.

Try the Intyce boot by Steve Madden. It's perfect for bigger calves and really cute!

I have a pair of boots from Aldo (almost up to the knee) that have elastic at the back and they are AWESOME!!! Of course since it's Aldo they probably don't have them anymore (got them last year, and from the outlet) but be on the lookout for those!

I have the same problem! My calves are freakishly big --- I have found that Nine West boots often fit!
Zappos also specifies wide calf, but I haven't ordered before.

p.s. I don't consider myself to have big calves, but most boots are STILL scary tight on me. Like, cutting off circulation tight. I don't know who they make these boots for...

I have this problem and usually will buy up ANY boots that will fit me! I've had some luck with SOME Target boots (not all, by any means) I also just picked up a pair of Kenneth Cole Reaction boots from TJMaxx that are the perfect cognac riding boot. Super soft leather. The style is "Tried and Tide"

i'm super cheap, so i bought mine at payless, but i love them. they're not actually labeled for wide calves, but they're the only boots i've ever gotten that fit my monster calves. i love them because i can wear them up on my upper calf, or slouch them down. they're called the rory slouchy boots, and they were only $39.99. also, it looks like if you order them online, they're on sale and are available in extended calf!

@mrs. wagon: I think I used to have these exact boots! Except I had them like, 3 years ago, so maybe not. Either way, they were awesome. I got them reheeled like, 4 or 5 times and then one day they finally died forever.

Awesome, will have to check out all the resources! I have the wide calf problem, AND I have small feet (size 6, and apparently shoe makers don't think people with small feet have big calfs)... plus, I'm only 5' tall, so many boots are too tall. BLAH!

I need boots for wide calves as well, even when I'm at my thinner weights and the problem is compounded by the fact I have very short legs which seems to make boots hit in the wrong place.
I did get a great pair at Naturalizer last year.

Keen is made for larger calves, I have a pair that fits and I have ginormous calves! =P But the pair I have is a little sporty and I'd like a more classic look. So far, I've given up and will settle for low boots (though I still haven't brought myself to buy a pair yet).
