Kind of a spin off of the other tv post..
I won't. I won't allow them to have a computer with Internet either. My parents didn't and it forced us to be completely accountable with what we watch/surfing the Internet and also to spend more time as a family.
DH feels very strongly about this as well.

Nope!
No TV or computer in their room... we don't have either in our room either. AND all smartphones will have pretty strict restriction on them (mine & DH's as well) and will be monitored for video & song content.

Definitely not. I don't think I'd allow any electronic / media device in his room. I know DH is on board because he is 100% opposed to having a TV in OUR bedroom.

My husband and I differ on this subject. He grew up with his own phone line and a TV. I was not allowed either of those luxuries.
I don't feel they are necessary and with cordless phones and cell phones these days there's no reason a kid would need their own phone line!
I also don't think kids watching tv before bed is healthy (or all day for that matter but especially before bed since it's extremely stimulating). Our eldest has a bad case of ADHD and has a hard enough time falling asleep as is (8 years old and stays up till midnight sometimes!), I can't imagine if he had a tv in his room! Insanity!
I think my husband is slowly coming around to my side just because of the issues we have with our eldest.

Absolutely not! DH and I are both very strong on this. We also refuse to have a TV in our room. I feel like having separate TVs discourages togetherness.

Nope. My parents let me have a tv when I was older, but I was never a really big TV person so it was no big deal. But I would rather my kids be doing other things than watching tv. And if they are going to watch tv, I don't want them hiding themselves in their room.

No, I definitely don't plan on it. Technology will be tough, though. My 11 year old brother has an ipad that he's obsessed with (he bought it with his own money/gift cards), but I'm not sure if my mom lets him use it in his room by himself. I like the idea of having a central charging station in the kitchen or family room where everyone has to leave their devices before bed.

Nope, and currently no tv in our room either. Growing up my parents had a tv in their room that we could use if Dad was watching something in the living room.
Also, computers are in common areas, only.

Not sure. I grew up without one in my room but we had a den/play room area that my sister and I basically had to ourselves. Our bedrooms didn't even have cable outlets! But, since we're not in the suburbs with multiple bedrooms and only a 2-bedroom condo, there's a good chance there will be one in the bedroom.

nope. no screens- tv/ipad/computer/whatever new gadget they come out with. those can be used in open family spaces, if you have to hide it, you shouldn't be doing it and we don't want them having screen time near bedtime.

I am planning on putting a TV in the play room. DH is very against TV in kids bedrooms. Personally I don't feel strong one way or another.

Probably not. I grew up without a TV, and I think the lack of one will encourage more family time instead of them retreating to their bedrooms immediately and staying there all day unless called upon or we're going somewhere.

@mrs. tictactoe: I was thinking the same thing! I want the same rules for DH and I as for our kids. We don't have a tv in our room, neither will the kids. And then everyone leaves their phones or gadgets in the kitchen at night

No. End of story. DH disagrees with me on this to some degree, but I feel very strongly that my kid does not need a tv or computer in their room. When they hit high school and can pay for it themselves, then we will talk. Computers were in common areas when I was growing up, and it definitely kept me accountable, even though it drove me bananas to have to minimize those IM chats every time my mom walked in

not sure, i had one when i was a teenager and it was nice to have and i didnt watch tons of tv but it was such a nice luxury that i really liked. But i think dh wont want to put one in ds room. if it was up to me i would let him when he is older. computer will probably be just in the main room.

No way! No tv, no video games, no computer. Electronics (like phones) need to be returned to mom and dad at the end of the night! We have a tv in our room and NEVER use it except if I'm folding laundry and listening to the news or a ball game

TV? Sure. I had a little one when I was in high school. It was nice to watch TV when I went to bed. That's the age I'd find it appropriate - maybe around 14 or 15? I don't think it's needed as a young child, however.
ETA - since others have mentioned it, I say no computer in their room, however. I have no problem with them using the computer in a common space, but definitely not in their bedroom. I feel much more strongly about this than with television.

From a developmental and sleep standpoint, research shows that this is like one of the worst things you can do. That being said, my parents allowed a TV in our room. LOL. We won't allow it though.

No TV, computer or phone in her room. She can have a radio and all the books and toys she wants. I didn't get any of these things and would like to carry on that tradition.

No TV. I figure we will have a family PC or laptop they can use with tight internet controls for homework.
BTW I had a tv since I was 8 or 9, my brother got one when he was younger for video games.

I say probably not, but I had a small (13") in my room and was still an excellent student, and social. So it obviously didn't really impact me that much!

No. We're a one TV family, and it stays in the living room. I had one in my room growing up, but it wasn't hooked up to cable... So it was pretty lame.
