I'm not going to lie, I will be. I love to read so much and have so many books that I'd like to share with my kids one day. Reading was a great source of comfort for me as a child. My husband never liked to read though. I really want my kids to take after me in this area.

I would be too. I've always been a huge reader, but so has my husband.
One of the main reason some kids don't like to read is they find it difficult. That can be a vicious circle too, because if you don't read enough you won't get better, and then you won't like to read and won't do it...

Yes because I love to read! I was called a "bookworm" for as long as I could remember because I used to always walk around with my head stuck in a book.

Yes, i want them to read and read often. I feel like someone who doesn't read is just severely limited in so many ways! Like they are missing out on all the adventures and enjoyment. I won't force them to read--that always, always backfires.

As a nanny, I once spent four hours curled on the couch reading books to the 3-4 year old. I was in heaven hahaha!!
I would be devastated and quite frankly feel at a loss of what I would do with them all day!

i am a huge reader and DH is not and he thinks it's because his parents didn't really instill that in him. he's really excited to start reading to our daughter when she arrives. i would be pretty devastated if our kids didn't like to read.
i had a book-themed baby shower last weekend and got a ton of books! i think i'll start reading her one a day because i feel weird just talking to my belly for some reason.

Oh I would be so upset if LO didn't like to read! DH and I are huge readers and LO already loves books, so I'm hoping it won't be an issue!

I would be so sad about this. I do actually worry about this, because DH grew up in a culture where reading was not valued at all. His parents never read to him (due to their limited education), no books in the house, nothing. He doesn't get that I like to sit down and read, because it is not anything he valued growing up.
I, on the other hand, adore reading, and look forward to sharing so many of my favorite books with future LOs. My parents read with me every night before bed, and I want to be sure that DH and I instill the love of reading from a young age.

Yes!!! I LOVE to read, but my husband doesn't read EVER. I think he's read ONE book in the past few years and I just think that's sooooooooooo sad.
I'm hoping our kids will take after me and be a big reader. I'm planning on reading to them when they are little and I hope this helps foster their love of reading!

Yes! I was a huge reader growing up. It'll seriously suck if our kid doesn't like to read -- and I'm worried about it, because I worry this generation coming up won't want to do that at all, with all the technology around.

Yes! We are both voracious readers, and we both read really early in life (like 3-4). I used to devour stacks of books from the library in a day!

I would be devastated! Isn't the entire point of having kids to be able to re-read all the children's and YA books you loved as a kid??? JK... mostly.

As an elementary teacher - I definitely would be! I would think that I had failed in some regard. I see firsthand how school can be a struggling experience for kids who do not like to read. I personally love to read and do so on a daily basis so I hope it rubs off on them!

I would be sad, I am a big reader, but DH isn't, but we are working on getting him exposed to reading in the hopes that he will take more after me in this regard (my Mom really encouraged reading whereas his parents didn't, so I think nurture is more important than nature in this area).
