What brands are considered designer? I would buy like gap, h&m a d similar things but I don't consider those designer.

Un, no. Not unless they can find them on clearance at TJ Maxx. I'm too cheap to buy myself name brand clothes, much less my kids.

No I don't think so. I've never owned branded clothing (unlike dh) but thats because of price.

If I wanted designer I went to Ross. My kids can do the same.

Probably not. Maybe as a special-occasion thing, like a Christmas present, if they have really been asking for it. But they wouldn't have ALL designer jeans or anything.

I'll try to find sales and stuff for them, look around on ebay and TJ Maxx/Marshals, but I won't spend a ton of money on them.

I know how important it was to feel like you fit in. Rough years! Glad I'm done with MS and HS!

there are so many cute clothes at gap, old navy, h&m, zara so probably no. if they really wanted something, maybe for their birthday or christmas or they could work for it around the house and save their own money.

Probably not...I don't even wear designer stuff, so I probably won't buy it for my children.

Probably since B already wears Joe jeans...but only on sale! Or for birthdays if that's what they are into.

No way. I grew up wearing the cheapest of cheap clothing and while I complained, I knew that "designer clothes" (and for me, Gap was considered designer) I had to have a good report card or something to justify my parents buying anything from there.

Right now, all of LO's clothes are Gap, Carter's, or Old Navy and even I think that's going all out. But times are changing...We'll see in about 10 years!

pfft they won't be getting designer anything ever. When I was a teenager I bought all my clothes at value village and I did just fine. Infact, I loved it! It was an important lesson to not get wrapped up in that crap. To me "designer" stuff is such a waste of money.

ETA: And that goes for even their own money from babysitting/a part time job. That is another lesson that I want to teach my kids. Just because you have money doesn't mean you can spend it on anything you want any any given time. I want to teach the discipline required to spend money wisely and build real wealth.

For their general wardrobe we'll stick with old navy, gap, etc. And buy stuff at TJ Maxx like Polo clothes. I won't be stocking them up with designer outfits. However, if I was going to spend $100 on Christmas anyway and that's what my child wants for her present then that's what she'll get.

I would love to say no way jose. But probably yes. Haha. But only from TJ Maxx or Nordstrom Rack or the outlets!!

It will depend on cost and quality. When I was in school it was very cool to have Abercrombie, but my mom hated that store because she felt the quality was so low. I won't want my little girl to get made fun, so I will buy her within reason what she wants, just as my parents did for me.

On sale I would. And for Christmas or a birthday. I do the same for my husband who loves designer stuff, haha. Though I will say that's obviously different since we work and aren't growing anymore! But I think buying some designer things for kids is fine for special occasions.

If it was on sale, sure. Otherwise, probably not. I can't justify spending a butt load of money on clothes they'll quickly outgrow or tear up. Plus, I don't want them to "flaunt" it in front of other kids that they're wearing "nicer" clothes.

But, I am realllllly good at finding name brand at TJMaxx and the like. I am also gotten killer deals on handbags and shoes ebay so I'll probably take that skill on with LO. I already have...Most all if not all of LOs stuff that is 9m+ is name brand but yet I've paid just as much for it as I would have if it weren't because I searched high and low for deals.

Not unless it was a special occasion like a Christmas or birthday present. We shopped Target and Mervyns (which doesn't exist anymore) when I was a kid, and now most of my clothes come from Old Navy. My hubby wears the cheapest clothes ever so he would not even entertain the idea...
