I've noticed some families call their grandparents "Grandma Jen" or "Grandpa Jack." I sort of squish my nose at these names because it is SO WEIRD to me to hear kids calling adults by their first names. Our parents are going to be Grammy and Grampy last name and Grandma and Grandpa last name.

We distinguished our grandparents as "Granddad" and "Grandpa". I only had one grandma.
My DH's family usually does it as "Grandpa L" and "Grandpa P" (last names).
I don't really think it's that weird to use first names though. I mean I called my uncles and aunts "Uncle John", "Uncle Greg", "Aunt Cheryl", ect and they were all adults.

I've heard my mom call herself "Grandma P" to my LO but I always just call them both "Grandma" to her. And then my dad is "Grandpa" and DH's dad is "Pop Pop". I never used my grandparents' names but my dad sometimes tells me to call his dad and stepmom "Grandpa and Grandma Lastname" which feels weird to me.

DH's family calls the grands and others by first names and it's so odd to me. Growing up I had Grandma and Grandpa, not Grandma Glenda and Grandpa Bill. My intentions are for LO to call her grandparents Grandma, grammy, gramps, something like that, no names!

I called my grandparents Grandma G and Grandma B (first initial of their lastnames) DH called his Grandma Betty Grandpa Murray etc.
I don't mind either. My mom wants to be Grandma G, so far DH's parents are just Grandma and Grandpa

We always called my grandparents "Grandma last name" when we talked about them, but just "grandma" when taking to them. I have noticed DH saying Grandma and Grandpa first name when referring to my parents, but they are divorced with different last names, maybe that's why? His parents are Grammy and Grampy.

Nope. A will call my parents gpa/gma in Korean, ILs are still trying to decide what they'll be called, but I think we're going with papa/nana~

I called my grandmas (I had two) by their last name, Grandma "Smith" and Grandma "Jones". Not to their face- but just like "oh are we going to Grandma Smith's today? In person it was Grandma.
I only had one grandpa and I called him Pop Pop. I don't like the grandma "Beth" stuff, that feels weird to me too.

My dad is Pops but my mom is Lou. Her name is Louise. It totally fits her personality, though. We tried Gram for her and it just never felt right. MIL name starts with a B and she will be called BB !

Huh, I guess I always thought it was weird on TV shows when kids called adults by their last names besides in school. I call my grandparents 'Grandma and Grandpa" but when talking about them to other people I say "Grandma Firstname" to distinquish them. I also have always called my aunts and uncles by their first name, as does pretty much anyone I know? Maybe it's a regional thing?

Nope, my IL's are called grandma/grandpa in Korean and my parents are called grandma/grandpa in Chinese.

My dad's parents were divorced, so I had three grandmas and three grandpas - - calling them something other than just 'grandma' was necessary to know who you were talking about!
I call each of them Grandma Firstname when referring to them, but just grandma to their face. I think it would be weirder to call them Grandma Lastname, they aren't strangers! I do also call my aunts/uncles simply 'Firstname' to their faces though, so maybe that alters it.

Both sets of my grandparents were grandma and grandpa. I only distinguished by saying Grabdma Marie and Grandma Helen when I was talking about them to someone else, never to them.
I assume J will also just refer to them as Grandma or Grammy

I had a Grandma Firstname. I think it was meant as a dig, though, based on comments my mom has made in the past....and my other grandma was just Grandma

We just had different names for each set growing up (grandma and Baba and pappap and pop pop) and we plan to do the same with dd. So far my mom and dad are Grammy and Pop pop and the ILs are grandma and pap pap.

nope. i can't even call my in-laws by their first name so our kids will always call them grandma/grandpa (or the korean/japanese words for them).

When I was growing up I had Memaw (moms mom), Pawpaw & Mawmaw (dads parents) and then as a teen PawPaw Jesse (my moms dad who re-entered her life).
G has alot of grandparents so it's hard to come up with names for all of them. Pretty much we've kept the names I had for mine just added "great" in front of it. My mom is grandma, his other bio gradma is nana, & all the grandpa's are PawPaw first name (they're all divorced from the grandma counterpart so having "coupled" names is kinda difficult).... DH's mom is grandma first name too b/c at the time we had now clue what to call her (things didn't start well) and her other grandkids call her grandma. which was already being used by my mom. Since I don't call my in-laws by their last name I think it would weird to have the munchkins do that though... just makes more sense to be grandma/pa first name. *shrugs shoulders*

No way! DH's parents with be Grandma and Grandpa (as they are for their seven other grandkids), my dad and stepmum with be Nana and Papa, and my mum still hasn't chosen her grandmother name.
Not really related to grandparents, but one of my biggest pet peeves is hearing children call adults by their first names. I guess I'm just old fashioned that way.

Nope. Our kids will call them grandma and grandpa in their respective languages (Chinese and Khmer).

To their faces, I called both sets of grandparents Gramma and Grandpa, but we distinguished when clarifying by adding their last names.
My cousin's family started a trend of her kids calling our grandparens (their great grandparents) by their first names on my dad's side of the family.
However, ds only has my mom as a gramma (my ex's mom isn't in the picture on that side), and he calls my MIL by her first name, just cause that's how he was introduced to her when dh and I were dating. But, she's as good as any gramma to him. He also calls my dh by his first name, also.

In my husband's language, they have specific words for maternal Gparents and paternal Gparents (that are different from each other), so our LO will call his parents the words for the paternal Gparents.
They'll call my mom Nana, because that's what she already is to the other neices and nephews. But when I was growing up, I had a grandma and grandDADDY (not grandpa) Last-name and a grandma first name. I think they each picked what they were most comfortable with.

My in-laws will be Nana and Pops but my mom will probably be Grandma Katie or Grandma K (and my dad and stepmom will be Grandma/pa First Name, but I expect it will be very rare for him to see them). I told me mom she can put in a request for a different name but she hasn't thought of anything she likes. I imagine ultimately it will be whatever LO calls her.

My mom wants to be called by her nickname, which is just a shortened version of her name. Who knows what LO will actually come up with, though.
