My parents have grandkids so they don't mind being called grandma and grandpa.
My husband's mom does not want to be called grandma. If we get pregnant, it will be her first grandchild.
A friend of ours is pregnant and both parents don't want to be called grandma or grandpa, either. They will be first time grandparents.

Well, my nieces call my parents "Gaga" and "Buck." They were supposed to be Grandma and Pops, but....it ended up Gaga and Buck! So, I think our kids will call them the same.
I don't know what MIL wants to be called yet, but we'll leave it up to her.

My in-laws are Chinese and they want LO to call them the Cantonese translation for grandma and grandpa. I'm Korean but I think they'll end up calling my parents "grandma" and "grandpa" because the Korean translation is hard to say for little kids.

Well, I don't have kids yet, but I suspect my parents will want to go by Grammie and ... oh my gosh, I have no idea what my Dad will want to be called!
My husband's parents already have grandkids and they go by "Grammy, Grandpa, and Mimi." I assume they'll continue to use these names for our children as well.

They'll call ILs "grandma" "grandpa"... and call my parents the korean version of it (or whatever pronunciation they can create of it!)
ILs were older parents and have been dying to be grandparents and my parents are dying for grandbabies and can't wait to be called those names.

My mom wants to be called grandmama and I think my dad will want to be papa like his dad was for me.
DH's dad wants to be Pap Pap like DH's grandfather. I'm not sure what his mom wants to be yet.

My lo is the first grandchild on my side, and my mom couldn't wait to be called Grandma. She loves it and my dad is grandpa. My in laws are nanny and poppy.

My MIL goes by "Doda." I have no idea why, but my suspicion is that it was a string of sounds her first grandchild used 9 years ago. She was a youngish grandma at 47, so I can understand her reasons.

My in laws are called Gramma and Grampa because that is what my step daughter has called them- although LO might come up with something different, since there is such an age difference (17 years) between her and her sister.
My parents are called Nina and Pa by my nephew so I am pretty sure that is what will stick.

My mom will be Nana, and my step-dad hasn't decided yet. The hubby's parents will be Nana and Popa. My brother's mom (who used to be my step-mom and I love to DEATH) will be Grandma, and my dad I haven't got a clue. My dad's girlfriend/whatever-she-is is not going to be called anything other than her name. As far as my hubby, brothers and I are concerned, she's not family and never will be.

My in-laws are already Grandma and Grandpa so they have the corner on that market. My mom will probably want something less typical like Nana or Mimi, but I like Mama {first name}. DH already calls her that so I think it might stick - we'll see. I like Papa or Papa {first name} for my stepdad. My father is an interesting fellow, so who knows what he'll come up with... but we'll probably just call him "Grandpa {first name}" or something like that.

My parents have names that the other grandkids call them, and they really wanted Lala to call them that too... but it just didn't work for us, so they are Grandma and Grandpa location and the other grandparents are Grandma and Grandpa other location... if that makes sense!

I think my mom will be Nana since that's what both of her grandmother's were and then I think my father will be Papouli (Greek for grandpa). My in-laws will probably be Grammy and Grandpa.

My parents are Grandmama and Grandfather and SO's parents are Nanna S and Groberts which is what SO's baby cousin calls SO's step father.
Apparently my Nanna refused point blank to be a Grandma. She has a thing with age and thought Grandma sounded older than Nanna.

My mom refuses to be Grandma. This is because her MIL is a pathologically lying b**** who hates my mom (for coming from a lower-class family), and my mom doesn't want the same name. Little does she know, I've always referred to her MIL as "Evil Grandma" or "the in-law." (Even my dad calls her the in-law. He joined the military to get away from her.) My kids will also have an evil step-grandmother.
My MIL, though, will likely be just fine with Grandma. She's as excited for me to have a kid as I am. And DH's paternal grandma is a sweetheart, so no problems sharing a name.

I asked my parents this, and I think my mom wants to be Grandma, but my dad said "I'll be whatever s/he decides to call me".... makes sense. We called my grandfather "Pa" becasue that's what came out and it's what stuck. My niece calls my FIL bubka, again, because thats what she can say and everyone thinks it's cute so no one corrects her.

My mom is absolutely emphatic about being called "nan." I think it is stupid, because my great-grandma was always nan. I think my mom and dad should be grandma and grandpa, so my mom's mom (my child's great grandma) can be nan. My mom is only 46, so I think Nana is a bit too old of a name for her. I think it will just be confusing switching these names around...
