I had a late Nov baby (first) and I enjoyed it! It helped that the holidays kept us excited, but could use cold/flu season to stay inside, etc. I didn't leave the house until LO was 7 weeks or so for errands, parties/getogethers so that part sort of sucked, but I don't think I would've done it differently being a ftm.

As a second time mom, I ended up with a July baby which is the opposite weather here (humid & hot), but it didn't stop us from being out and about right from the get go, especially to get big bro some play time outside!

I have months that I don't prefer to have babies, but I'm a firm believer that you can't always pick and choose the "right" month, and I wouldn't hold off on TTC if that was the only factor! Good luck!!!!

I would not wait just b/c it's winter! I had a Dec baby in NY and am a Nov baby myself. I hate my winter bday too, but it's just one day.. NBD!

I actually really liked the fact that for my first child she is a winter baby. We didn't go out, and didn't want to anyway! I mean yeah, I couldn't just take her out on a stroller walk till like April/May, but I was happy to stay in and be on maternity through the snow especially!

It was easy to go out since she was just in the infant seat the whole time. Not like now when we have to put on jacket, take off jacket, etc.

For my next baby I'd really like a summer bday though so I can still go out and do stuff w/ DD!

I had a December baby and I liked it. It was cozy to stay home when it was cold or snowy and then on days where it happened to be particularly warm, we'd bundle him up and get a little fresh air.

My second was born a week before Christmas (we live in cold-ish climate--PA). I was anxious about it, but the day we left the hospital it was like 70 degrees! This winter was so mild that I don't think there was any day I felt like it was too cold to go outside (and we only had one BIG snow...I couldn't drive for a day or two).

Ended up with a late October baby in Canada. It wasn't a big deal except for the limited outside mobility with a stroller, but a carrier can solve that problem as long as it's not slippery. There were some days where it was way too cold to go outside, even bundled up, but not that many.

@catlady: I'm sure I would have been singing a different tune if I had a kid already, but it was actually pretty amazing being pregnant last winter. I feel like I skipped the madness. When I talk to people about it it seems like a lot of people basically have PTSD, but I am just like oh I remember it snowed a lot? I got out of all shoveling and thankfully as a teacher had snow days so never really had to drive in it. And baby was not born during any of the blizzards thank goodness! (though one of my coworkers had hers and they had quite the fun drive to the hospital :silly:)

Anyway, I think we're probably safe for another two or three years before we have another terrible winter, I feel like it's pretty cyclical!

My first was a January baby in Canada, during a really hard winter. It wasn't bad for the first bit - I never really wanted to take a newborn anywhere anyway, and we just needed to remember to preheat the car before we did go anywhere. But by April when it was still freezing with snow on the ground I started to get a little stir-crazy.

DS1 was born in late November. I actually really liked it because by the time he was ready to be out and about, the weather was nicer and we could get outside. I think I'd choose to avoid a fall birthday over a winter one because just when they're getting to the age you want to take them out, the weather is getting worse.

ETA: The downside was that he got RSV at 3 months, which was a bit scary. But that could happen with any baby, so who knows?

I had a December baby (Chicago) and mid November baby (Houston). I liked the timing. Everyone is nesting in the winter, and it's an easier time of year to stay indoors with family and friends. I like even more having a 6 month old in the summer! By the time summer comes, your baby would be old enough for sunscreen, chlorinated pools, trying seasonal produce at farmer's markets, crawling around outdoors... It's awesome!
