I'm beginning to realize I need some better boots for this winter. I work mostly in an office but with some field work in an area where it gets fairly cold and snows. I want to find something waterproof with a bit of tread but that looks nice enough that I can wear it in the office too. Does such a thing exist? Another catch, has to be available in size 12.

I wear classic high handle Bogs in solid black. I love them and wear them almost everyday in winter. I will wear them with skirts and dresses but if i wear pants I do have to tuck them in because they are so tall. I know my friend has the mid height ones and her dress pants can fit over them. I think the solid black makes them look a bit nicer and you can get them without the handles. Though not sure they are dressy enough for an office. They do come in a 12!

@Iced Tea: @Mrs. Turtle: On the bogs website almost all of the winter boots come in a 12. Only some of the rain boots do. Though the winter versions would all be better in snow anyway.

I had a pair of La Canadienne boots similar to this that were waterproof and pretty warm, but looked like regular boots. But I most definitely did not pay anywhere close to this much. I remember they were a big splurge but not like this. Maybe other retailers have better prices. I had them for a long time and they held up to the snow during my commute in NYC.

@cam: Maybe. I run cold, as does my office, so I might be ok if I just don't use my space heater as much as I do now (which is basically all of the time). I can always leave a pair of flats at the office just in case. -
These are the two I've found that look promising so far. More than I wanted to spend but probably what I'll have to in order to get something that is actually waterproof. Does anyone have experience with either of these?

@Mrs. Turtle: Not with these particular Sorels, but I've always heard amazing things about the brand. I have one of their snow boots (Joan of Arctic) which are huge, but I bought them for long-term outside use only, and I LOVE them.
