Woah! Where did that come from? Is this a baby bump?? Or just fat??

Okay, so I'm not the slimmest of girls - but I've always held it well, despite my meagre 5ft4 frame. I've always held my weight around my middle, too, which is why I have been dismissing all suggestions that I am showing with a quick "Nah, that's all fat round there!". And I've been getting a lot of comments - work colleagues all swore they knew I was pregnant already because of my "baby bump". But at 14 wks, I shouldn't have a baby bump....... right?

We don't have any full length mirrors in our house so the only time I get to look at myself top to bottom is when I stay in a hotel. I was working away Thurs and Fri and, when I got into the hotel room and caught sight of myself in the mirror I thought "Woah! I look really pregnant". Like - 6 months pregnant.....

…. But I’m a bit confused. I really shouldn’t be this size at 14 weeks, should I?! It’s my first baby!! I know my stomach muscles are really weak so that will be a factor in my showing early and I know that there is a nice layer of fat over the bump, making it more prominent but, seriously, see for yourself!!

This pic shows me at 2 weeks pregnant (the day after conception, in fact) and at 14 weeks pregnant (yesterday - in the morning, so bloat was minimal!). I'm a bit closer to the mirror in picture two but...what the heck??

@Cherrybee: You're looking GREAT!!! Its sure looks like baby bump to me!!!

Its really hard to compare the two pictures as the first one is all black so its difficult to make out your figure from the blazer but who cares!!!

    That's a bump- ENJOY IT!

That's a really cute baby bump!! I'm about 5'3" and with weak abs and a bit of a belly and I started showing really early too. I don't have any photos but my female colleagues all said that they knew I was pregnant before I announced at work at 12 weeks.

    Your bump is so cute!!

I'm 5'3" and had a woman at work tell me yesterday that she'd asked my coworker if I was pregnant because "I looked like I'd put on some weight". Gee, it's a good thing there's a baby in there!

    Aaaw! Thanks everyone!

@MRS. LEMON-LIME: How many weeks are you?

@StrawberryBee: You're only a few days behind me, aren't you? If you're "filling out" around there, I'd guess that any day now you could wake up and be like "Uh? Where did this bump come from?"!! I totally thought it would creep into being.... but it just appeared!!

@sea_bass: Thank you! Yeah, I'd gotten very good at hiding my chub with super flattering outfits so is is hard to see my tummy in that picture! Not any more though - I'm going to enjoy showing it off while it's socially acceptable! lol!

That's a very cute baby bump:). I would not worry about when you're "supposed" to have a bump...Everyone is different! You look great!!!

@PrincessBaby: Thank you! I just worry that if it's not a baby bump it's actually a ton of bread and six multi packs of pickled onion Monster Munch corn snacks which a) I'll have to lose after the baby's born and b) I don't want to be "showing off", thinking I look pregnant, when everyone else is thinking "Woah, HOW fat is that woman?".

But if you're all sure it's a baby bump, I'll break out the tight tops!! Haha!

Awww enjoy that cute bump! I didn't have a defined bump until almost 6 months... Up until then, it just looked like I had been eating well.

I'm only 27weeks today but look like I'm ready to pop!

It's an adorable bump - total pretty baby bump, not chub!! I wonder if I'll be in the same boat, I'm 5'3" and also carry weight on my stomach...... And gained extra 10lb this winter (blah!!) over ideal weight.

my best friend showed immediately - we're both similar size to start - and she gained waaay less than I did. I think so folks just 'pop' earlier than others you look great!

@Cherrybee: 13 weeks :). My problem is that my tummy/gut has a horrible indent going through it thanks to childhood obesity and wearing pants that were too small. The bottom part of my tummy is starting to bump, but the top part is all fat and starting to get pushed out. Really looking forward to/hoping it all gets evened out!! I just want the fat redistributed lol

I had a DEFINITE bump at 14 weeks. Everyone told me it was bloating but it never went away. I was in maternity pants by 8 weeks and steadily grew from there on. Now at 22 weeks I've been told I'm still bigger than 'average'. I am 5'10" and was pretty thin before, so different body type than yourself but everyone grows differently!

@StrawberryBee: Don't worry, I'm sure it will all even out into one delicious bump and then, post baby, who knows what it will do! It might "fix" it permanently!

@Pumpkinspice: Thank you!! Whenever I see your photos on the bump thread I always think that if I look as great as you do when I get my bump I'll be very happy! I looked back and found your 12+6 photo - wow, it's all baby-bumpy like mine! I was always told that I'd show later because I was bigger. That's clearly a generalisation!

    This makes me smiley!!

@Cherrybee: Aww well thank you! And I'm only 5'1" and weighed 234 when I got pregnant. I've only gained 3lbs total in 27 weeks so don't buy into everyone telling you you must be gaining tons of weight cause of how big you are. I get that a lot too. That and am I sure there is only one.
    Cherish your beautiful bump.

I showed early too, at fifteen weeks strangers started asking me when I was due. I was just happy they recognized it as a baby and not too many burritos,

@Cherrybee: It's so funny-- you keep posting things that are so similar to exactly what I'm going through. This past week, especially in the evening, I've been like-- whoa, should I be showing this early? In the morning there is definitely a bump on my, but then by dinner time, I really look pregnant. I've been on and off worrying about it all week-- but it's definitely only belly, like you, so I'm going with bump not fat. I really thought I'd be all-- oh it's fine, it's baby, no need to worry about weight gain as long as the doctor/midwife says it's fine, but no, I totally am like, am I just getting fat right now? I also have a friend who is due a few weeks before me who is smaller than me, and very fit, works out a ton, didn't have to cut back because she felt fine her whole first trimester, and just has a little roundness in the tummy and that's it, which also makes me feel like I'm getting too big.

But if we are the same way, and we are due within days of each other, I'm saying we are both doing well! I am glad it looks like baby and not like fat these days. It's almost time to pack up my non maternity bottoms though.

I worried about this too and was in denial of a baby bump in the same way! I was definitely showing at 14 weeks, even a little at 11 weeks I think. First kid, but no abs might be the thing? I've always had a bit of a belly even when I'm in good shape, so I was sure it was just fat! Even still sometimes and I'm 21 weeks!

Some women just bump sooner. I had a bit of a tummy when I got pregnant, so I was thrilled to see it become a little round bump pretty early. I was wearing maternity clothing at the start of the second trimester - I was thrilled to show it off.

Very cute bump!! Show it off with pride!

I'm 5'2" and because of my height, I'm expecting I'll be showing earlier than others since I have a short torso and there's no where for the baby to go, but out!
