I'm interested in pursuing a career in teaching sometime soon. I don't necessarily care about having a ton of extra time off, I'm willing to dedicate more of my free time to the profession/stay around campus after school is over for the day. But the schedule in general is more friendly to having young children, so it would be an added bonus to get to spend more time with LO.

@babyjmama: I know a lady that quite her job and got a home-daycare license. She watches her kids (2) which is essentially just SAHM and watches 2 other kids.
Her kids get friends and she gets paid, and everyone stays together.

I'd like to work part time but I'm not sure how viable of an option that really is since we have billable hour requirements and if you cut your hours, they cut your pay plus it slows down job progression.

I go through phases. Some days I just hate dropping him off at daycare because he's being so dang cute. Other times, I'm not sure I could handle being at home all day, every day!

I started dreaming about this as soon as we began TTC. I looked into becoming a child minder, a dog walker, a dog groomer - a whole range of options - but none of them paid enough and, because I'm the main breadwinner in the house, I need to earning at least what I do now. I also looked into working my current job from home but realistically a child needs constant engagement and I couldn't get away with not actually working during the day!! Maybe one day, when DH is earning a bit more, I will be able to retrain or go part time - but it wont be for a while yet I'd imagine.

@babyjmama: I do! But for us DH is the WAHD, so the time I'm missing he has with his dada. Sometimes I get jealous, but I think it's pretty special that DS (& DH) get that time together. I'm grateful we're able to make it work this way.

I'm going on vacation with my girlfriends and their LOs next week at my parents' beach house and I've been daydreaming about it all week, can't wait!

I'm going to be a SAHM for a couple of years, but when I go back to work I want it to be in a field with more kid friendly hours. I've considered going back for a teaching degree (not only for the time off, but it's a factor!) But I need to really think long and hard about it before committing to more school.
