Hi girls and guys.

My LO was diagnosed with asthma a few weeks back. We have an inhaler for her and a spacer device but she freaks out whenever we try to give it to her...

Anyway, I digress. Basically, she has been ill with a cough for three months now. Three months. It alternates between a wheezy night-cough (asthma related apparently) and a wet, phleggmy cough (repeated infections). My doctor's prescription.... STEAM. Yup, that's right, steam. We have been doing the steamy bathroom trick morning and night for weeks now and when I told him this he replied that twice a day isn't enough. He wants us to sit her in a steamy bathroom for minimum 1/2 hour FIVE TIMES PER DAY.

I work full time and I have already taken off a considerable amount of time over the last three months to take her to the doctors over and over again. When I said this to the doctor, he replied that this is the only treatment for her "croup" (croup?? It doesn't sound a thing like croup - and besides, croup for three months??) and it is very important I do it.

How?? How can I do this? It's not like they have a steamy bathroom at daycare, is it?

Steam, for the love of God. I think now, at three months of continual night coughing, it might be time for a dose of steroid medication, don't you? Or a referral to pediatric specialist. Steam.
