I don't like to be teased and I really am not good at playing along with teasing. So after my quite noticeable abstention from alcohol last month I only ate pickles at a recent business lunch. I had kess than a half hour to order and eat and walk back to a tradeshow floor. There was no need to order a meal when the rest of the guys there just received their lunch. The pickles on everyone's plate looked good, so I ate that. Well the are you pregnant teasing ensued. I initially joked no, you don't see ice cream on my plate. The jokes didn't stop. So I admitted (again) we are trying and I knew for sure I wasnt pregnant. Side note: I was still feeling bummed about being two days late and two a couple days before. Then my manager, main teasing ring leader, says that's really fantastic and then says something about having to plan for my leave. Whoa pump the breaks, I am not even pregnant.

I don't really care that work people know if I am trying or not or if I am pregnant or not. It's life. I just hate the speculation and jokes And discussion. Good news is I don't see my coworkers or boss much in person. Now I still have to contend with my clients and those people are relentless too.

Did you role with the albeit well-meaning jokes and questions? Or did you shut it down without coming off as a killjoy?
