Are you attending any work holiday parties this year?
My work party is at a lounge and DH's work party is at a coworker's house. MIL says she will babysit on both nights...woohoo!

Mine is tomorrow at a country club. It'll be my first one at this company. Honestly, I hear it's pretty lame.

we go out to lunch and get our bonuses and then sit around and drink for awhile. I'm pregnant this year so I'll be going and not drinking luckily we have a tiny company and I enjoy my coworkers so I'll sit around and talk for awhile. DH normally shows up after lunch but he'll be watching little man =\ ours is during the work day as well so we are paid to go

Yes, but they actually do ours in January. It's usually pretty big and fun

Ours is next week, but it's a fancy luncheon. Yay, fancy luncheons when the company is laying off hundreds of people *eye roll*

My work just announced that we're having one on either December 22nd or 23rd, so I won't be attending. That's way too close to Christmas IMO
My husband's party is this Saturday.

Ours is coming up at the Marriott every year with nasty food! We have to pay $40, and when you say you're not going to go- you're told to think better of it! Wth. so, I bought my ticket, but I've been so sick I'm not sure if I'll be able to go. No bad food AND I'm out of $40 bucks lol

I work at a university and our department is notoriously underfunded so.....we are having a potluck next week during lunch. Nothing fancy!!

Mine doesn't have one. DH's is next Friday. I am less then thrilled about going.

Yes, but ours isn't until January. It's usually a lot of fun so I'm excited

Ours is the 17th but they cater in a bunch of yummy food and provide drinks. It all happens during the workday (I think this year's goes from 1:30-4pm) so we get paid and don't have to plan for anything in the evenings.

I SAH so we just have DH'S. It's next weekend & LO will be spending the night with my parents. I'm pretty excited. I have some very silly instructions from DH to "be the hottest wife there" lol I'll try my best this is ththe first year spouses have been invited to his work party. Usually they just have a company lunch.

I'm giving birth in the next few days so missing this years!

Mine is Friday. I work for a really big company and it is a huge all day event starting with breakfast, a really creative year in review show and a ridiculous party starting a noon with dancing, djs, cover bands, gogo dancers, and way too much booze. I am really looking forward to it, but I have to figure out how I am going to sneak away to pump!

Mine is during the day (BOO), but my husbands is the night before and his company throws an awesome party. They get presents for the kids, it's held at a nice place, and the food is awesome.

Our work holiday party is afterschool on a weeknight and no spouses are allowed. But, I will be going.

My husband's is this weekend, at a fancy country club. I'm dreading it.

M's corporate headquarters is based out of New York- so no party there. I'm a self employed company of 1 but we got tickets to the Nutcracker in downtown Portland, are staying the night at a hotel and going to a fancy dinner. Looking forward to that!

Ours are this weekend and next. DH's is at an event venue in the company's home city (a couple hours away, and actually his hometown) and mine is at our local Westin hotel. We both started new jobs this year--so I'm interested to see how they go!

Mine is this Saturday evening. It's really nice, at a fancy, upscale Italian restaurant with open bar and menu. Spouses attend that one.
Then we also have a holiday luncheon during a work day that is just employees but you still get to drink (yay!). We do a white elephant gift exchange at that one.
DH's company doesn't do a spouse-invited holiday party. I think they're doing a managers' potluck lunch that he gets to attend this year for the first time.

We have one every year but I haven't heard anything about it yet so I'm hoping we don't have one. It's always a good time but I would be just as happy not having one. DH is at a new company so not sure what they do.

I'm actually going this year and I'm quite looking forward to it. The company only contribute £20 per person towards the meal and then we have to pay the rest but that's okay.
DH isn't going to his this year because he hates his manager and is scared he might put her back in her box after a few drinks!

Ours is tonight, they only do a family one not an employee one, it is at the Children's Museum. DH's work doesn't have one (he's the boss of only 3 employees) so I made treats and DH plans to take them all out to lunch.

I don't think my office is having one, b/c our ED just quit.
DH just started a new job and his is next weekend! Excited/nervous.

Mine is Friday, I'm so excited! It's a huge black tie event with amazing food and entertainment.

Mine is just a lunch at school and then one of my colleagues who is a legit millionaire (we are teachers but her husband owns his own dental practice and CLEANS UP) has an after party at her house. It gets seriously messy. I was pregnant last year, so didn't have a great time & left early. Every year at least one person goes completely off the rails and is sick/passes out/tells off the boss. Everyone thinks it will be me this year since I couldn't drink last year. We'll see!
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
Not sure yet if there is one and if I'll be invited since I'm just a temp.

I'm going to my university department's party, plus my dissertation advisor is throwing one. Also, my dad is the boss at his organization so we're going to his.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
Both of our work parties are just a group dinners out, I don't know if spouses are invited/welcome at this point for ours. DH is taking his employees out and I'll probably stay home!

Nah, DH doesn't even ask me to go anymore. He has been working there for eons. Snooze!!

We're going to an industry party on Thursday for me and then DH's departments have parties on two Saturdays in a row.

Mine is Friday night. First with this company, it's supposed to be super fancy. I was given an iPad at my last companies Christmas party so it will be hard to top that!

My husband's is this Friday night. I think they're reserving a large room at a restaurant.
Our official holiday lunch happens during the workday with no spouses. Some of us from my department have decided to get together and have lunch next weekend with our spouses, but it's not an officially sanctioned lunch.

I'm self-employed but getting together with some other self-employed friends to do a small Christmas get together.

We do a department holiday party and are going to a pottery painting place this year and bringing in appetizers and drinks. We've done long lunches in the past but didn't like how everyone pretty much gets stuck at a long table and only gets to socialize with the 2 or 3 people they happen to sit by. Ours is during the work day as well so everyone comes and has lots of fun.
