An extra week of PTO or a 3% raise?
PTO = Paid Time Off. This includes both sick and vacation time.

The PTO - a 3% raise isn't much. If you had said 10%, that might change my mind...

I'm not a working parent yet, but extra time off is always a winner in my book over a small raise that would most likely be entirely absorbed by taxes.

Right now I get 4 weeks combined and its def not enough so I picked extra PTO!

I never understood people who preferred their vacation being paid out. Extra vacation time, every time!!

I picked 3% raise. I already don't use all my time off! Our company gives us a lot. 3% is a chunk every year!

I'd take the raise. It ends up being worth more than just taking a week off without pay.

At my old job I would've picked the raise because I was happy with the amount of PTO I got. But now that I'm not working I would kill for DH to get PTO! He has none since he works for his small family business, and it really sucks. Basically we have to ask his mom and dad for permission to take a vacation and get guilt tripped about it

I currently get 3 weeks, and will be getting bumped up to 4 this summer. So I'd take the raise!

I have almost 4.5 weeks of PTO so I'll take the raise please! If I only got 2 weeks PTO, I'd take the PTO!

Definitely more PTO!!!! I get a very nice amount as it is, but I wouuld love to have some extra flexibility to take a day here and there if I wanted to. I'm a little bit of a PTO hoarder now

I went for a raise because I already get 5 weeks holiday per year (plus up to 6 months paid sick leave - ours doesn't work quite the same as yours). To be fair though, after tax, its worth less than £60 a month so its actually pretty naff!

I have 20 vacation days but only 6 sick days and no personal days. I'd like that PTO to be put towards sick days, please

Time off! I get 2 weeks combined, and am totally anticipating this not being enough.

Definitely a raise! I get plenty of sick & vacation (5 weeks a year!)

@oliviaoblivia: that's a good point -- if I was able to take unpaid time off for vacation purposes, I'd say the same. Unfortunately, it's just not done where I work (it's fine for sick leave purposes, but not really otherwise) so I said PTO. Our families are far away, and it would be nice to have extra time to visit them!

A whole week of PTO for sure!!!
I really could have used a day off this week, due to childcare scheduling issues. And while I would love more money, every day I have at home with LO (and DH) is so so precious!

I get four weeks combined, and I picked PTO. If I could choose, it would be sick PTO. I've already used six of my 10 days, and it's the end of March.

3% is like a cost of living increase... not much. Up the ante and I'd go for the $$$.

Well.... my benefits are wonky. We don't get sick days, we get marks again us for calling in, and can get a maximum of 6 in a rolling calendar year. So I would increase my SICK PTO if possible.
PTO is accrued based on hours worked, so I would choose a 3% raise. Which isn't much, but every little bit helps!

Wow, I feel really spoiled reading some of the replies. I have 4 weeks of vacation and 2.5 weeks of sick time per year and I still want more vacation time...it blows my mind that so many people think 4-5 weeks total is enough!

I voted 3% raise. I never come close to using all of my PTO and am starting a new job next month where we are given 25 days PTO at the start, and 30 days of PTO after our year anniversary, all of which can be rolled over year to year, up to 1600+ hours of PTO and then it's paid out! To me, a 3% raise is essentially one more week-ish of pay a year, which I would happily take!

The 3% isn't much when you look at the #s (at least for my wage LOL) so I'd take the PTO.

@mediagirl: I voted raise cause I have 6 weeks vacation time plus up to 6 weeks sick time and additionally even 20 days gov. funded baby sick time, so yeah raise it is...

I'm a teacher so am lucky to get lots of time off already. I vote raise!

@wonderstruck: I work for my dad and with my siblings so I totally get what you're saying. Technically we get 2 weeks vacation but none of us ever use it all! And, PTO? Sick days? What is that?! Small family businesses can be great and we have some pretty awesome perks, but damn, can it be hard and demanding as well.
