Yup, I was the same and I fell in love with my daughter before she was even born. I am also more interested in other kids now that I have a daughter myself. Good luck and have fun TTC!!

I like kids waaaay more, but I still struggle with babies.

Kids are kind of like a video game... you get to choose what your little guy does and if all goes well, then he gains new powers and levels up. That part is pretty fun!

The part that sucks is when the Big Boss of Sleep starts killing you and you lose all your lives trying to get your LO to nap or sleep through the night. Every kid is different though... some of them don't have a Big Boss of Sleep that you have to kill. Try to get that video game, if they have it in stock.

For me it got a lot easier around 13 months or so. That's when I could try and level up Charlie's vocabulary skills.

We just started TTC and I feel the same way about kids. One of my coworkers just had a baby about 2 months ago and keeps bringing him in to work to show him off to everyone. People all want to hold him and love on him. I just can't bring myself to do it. I chalk that up to not being comfortable around really little babies. However, I have many nieces and nephews and have a hard time enjoying being around/playing with them. I get annoyed easily at their loudness/bad behavior/etc and/or find little interest in them. My DH and I babysat our 3 year old nephew about a month ago and sat there staring at each other wondering what to do with him. DH even said, "It's gotta be better with your own right???" We ended up having him peel egg shells off our eggs for us because that is what he wanted to do and we needed it done. At least he had a good time.

Im not going to lie, before having my first daughter I really disliked all children as a general rule and said I would never have kids.... well (for me at least) all of that changed once pregnancy became real. I became attatched right away and cannot wait for our second child to be born!

I've always liked children and had no doubts that I would want some one day. But not having been exposed to very many babies, I never knew how to engage with them. I mostly just smiled and stared. Now that I have my own, I am able to interact better with kids in general. Even with my own kid, it took me a few days before I started bonding with him.

My good friend hated kids. Was annoyed by them and really couldn't care for them. Then she got pregnant. And having your own child is not like looking out and seeing others kids.

You have control of your own and you call the shots. Her liking for children changed so honesty i wouldn't worry about it.

but to echo what everyone else said, i too am not a kid lover. i never baby sat when i was growing up and the only real exposure i've had to kids is my nephews and nieces. I adore my nephew, who is sweet, thoughtful and just a good kid all around. My niece can be a terror sometimes, and I have to admit that I don't always enjoy interacting with her. Yes, this is my own flesh & blood, but I do love her. I'm fine with babies in general, but I really don't enjoy kids. At all. I was really worried about this too, but when I told my mom about it, she said she felt the same way about kids and once you have your own, it is completely different and you will love them more than you can imagine. As her daughter, I can tell you that I never suspected she didn't like children. So, don't worry too much!!
