My state got a D but I feel well taken care of as a working parent - I think it depends more on your company than your state!

@MsLipGloss: lovely and it doesn't surprise me at all

@cmomma17: Then we can do huge California HB Meetups when we all live there!

My current state got a B. My old state got a D. I can absolutely see the difference between the two states, in terms of what is generally accepted for mat leave, child care, etc.

Mine got a B...I work with my family though so I'm not sure how that grade translates to real life workplace situations here. I have quite a bit more flexibility than the average work place.

D. At least it's not an F, right? Silver lining, where are you?!?!

I work in two states, both got Bs. I feel fortunate to be able to work for a large, global corporation that gets it though, and my work experience/track record is what has afforded me this current flexibility.

@Mrs. Blue: Ha is it sad that I was expecting it to get an F, so I was pleasantly surprised with a D?? My company definitely gets an A, though, so I feel pretty fortunate.

My state is a B, but I work in a state that got a D. That being said, I am a federal worker so it doesn't apply much to me. We don't receive any paid maternity leave or anything (other than regular sick days) and only qualify for FMLA.

A-! I figured CA was at the top due to their disability and Family leave pay.

@Mamaof2: Agree. My state got a D, but my company takes good care of me as a working mom.

B! woohooo (should we really be happy with a B???)
Not surprised with many of the F's, unfortunately.

@lawbee11: That's what I was expecting, too. Your company definitely gets an A. I'm just waiting for the day they start hiring for remote employees!

@Mamaof2: Very true. My state got a D but I give my current department an A. They have been very generous and helpful.

I think most states are failing - it's absurd that the U.S. has no national mandated PAID maternity leave for more than 12 weeks (which is a crazy short amount of time) and required PAID sick leave. Nuts.

B for me! They treated me exactly how I expected to be treated, so I'm happy with things. I'm not sure if I had low expectations are not, but I still didn't feel disappointed.

What do Arizona, Michigan, and Georgia have in common? A grim situation for working parents.
I'm in MI. It's an F. I don't feel this is true for me and my company. But it is true for the majority of parents here

@snowjewelz: I'm assuming the B is because NY has some form of disability pay, but I found it to be seriously inadequate. Just one example is that they now only pay 6 weeks regardless of delivery (used to be 8 weeks for a c section), and my disability carrier had a one week "waiting period" which counted towards the 6 weeks...so basically, i got 5 weeks of disability pay after having a c section, where it used to be 8. So yea, not nothing, but not exactly California or New Jersey (surprised NJ didn't get an A- too?) not to mention the days i spent on the phone trying to actually get that money, but i think that's a complaint for the carrier, not NYS
