The only dog names I would avoid are my own dogs' names. Other than that, I wouldn't worry about it!

I know quite several dog and human Lillys. I think it's super cute for both!

It depends on the "dog" name but if it's the one you and I have discussed then you're crazy!

My girl dogs are Sophie and Dixie - Sophie is insanely popular. Dixie, um... notsomuch. Dixie may be a little "out there" for a baby name but no one would give Sophie a 2nd thought!

As long as it's not MY dogs name it would not deter me.

I agree with people that I'd be fine as long as it wasn't a dog I was close to.

I love the name Maggie and my parents' neighbor had a dog named Maggie, so any time my dad hears it as a person's name, he says, "But that's a dog's name!" Drives me nuts actually (same man who purposely mispronounces my friends names just to annoy me, like saying Alexis instead of Alexa).

So yeah, as long as it doesn't belong to a dog I know.

It wouldn't bother me as long as it wasn't my dog's name or someone close to me dog's name.

I just wanted to say that my name is Molly, which is a super popular dog name. I've heard "Oh! That's my dog's name!" my whole life. It really doesn't bother me though. I actually think of it as a compliment, since I know how much people love their pets. Anyway, I voted no -- go for it!

I used to have a dog named Maddox and we still considered it for our LO's name!

I grew up surrounded by people who would say, "Molly?! That's my dogs name!" It was a little annoying, but it wasn't a big deal. I love my name!

@photojane: when I first started dating my husband and met my mother in law, she said "I wanted to name one of my daughters Molly, but then I thought - that's a cow's name." Ummm.... She actually likes me, but she has word vomit a lot.

I think its fine!! So many people's dogs have people names now anyways! My gran had a dog named Jessica! and growing up we had an Abby.

Unless it's Lady, I wouldn't worry about it ;D But seriously, those names are super cute people names too!

Today there was a question about whether names that were super common as middles had lost their sheen as first names, and something she said at the end resonated with me about your question and seemed like great advice. Sub "pet's name" for "daughter’s/granddaughter’s/niece’s/sister’s middle name"

But almost every name has at least one potentially wearying/annoying element: if it’s not “Oh, yes, we know four girls with that name!,” it’s “Whoa, THAT’S a name you don’t hear often!” or “Wait, how do you spell that?” or “Oh, like the TV show?” Or else you have to keep saying “No, with a K, not a C” or “No, it’s AriAHna” or “It’s a family name.” It’s a matter of deciding which wearying/annoying element is most tolerable."

I totally wouldn't not care, unless it was my dog or my parents dogs name. DH and I liked the name Milo, and my aunt told me it was a dogs name, I was so mad, and I totally would have still kept it on the short list but now that it was said DH decided he agrees and can't get past it, annoying!
