We had a huge dinner party last night with all of DH's colleagues. The way our basement works is there are a few steps that go down from the main floor to a small landing, and then a flight of stairs.

One of his coworkers was horsing around with DD and another girl at the top of the landing which was the stupidest thing to do. He would pretend to scare them, and the girls would shriek back in horror. Well, the girl lost her balance and then pulled DD down with her, tumbling down the entire flight of stairs. Luckily it was carpeted, and they were okay in the end (after lots of crying). I was observing this from about 2-3 metres away and was about to come over to suggest they stop when it happened. It was hard to get to them quickly because there were so many people in the way.

I understand these things happen but he didn't take any responsibility for what happened! He wasn't apologetic or felt bad! He was just, "i don't know what happened" when DH jokingly said, "Did you push them?" He kept it light bc it was DH's department chair. DH thinks he was embarrassed but still, i would take some responsibility if it happened to me.

Would you be upset?

ETA: I have no desire (nor did i have any) to say anything to him! Upset that he walked away from the situation like had no responsibility.
