Not like a movie theater seating type of couch, but just a plain, tan couch that had no style? What if it felt like heaven while sitting/laying on it?!
ETA: DH found this one...I think it's kind of ugly but it's so dang comfortable!

I think it depends on where it is going. If it was going in to like basement rec room then sure.
pineapple / 12793 posts
I would for a rec room / tv room, but not for the living room.
pomelo / 5509 posts
I would, if I could style it up with pillows and throws. When you said ugly I was definitely thinking chintzy floral pattern or something.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
We have something that looks similar!
DH loves our recliners but I would love something simple and more sleek but you can find those with a recliner! So we've got a big bulky sectional.
grapefruit / 4136 posts
@Grace: LOL same! I think with some cute pillows, a throw and some snuggly B & E this couch could be perfect!
pineapple / 12234 posts
@oliviaoblivia: that was my thought too, we have a loft that it could go in for a tv area and then we could eventually buy nicer couches for our great room.
blogger / pomegranate / 3300 posts
I thought it was a nice couch, but I have never been very hip or stylish. So yes I buy for comfort.
pineapple / 12234 posts
@Grace: @babyjmama: @LindsayInNY: you guys don't think the chaise part looks funky?! It's so wide compared to normal sectionals! It really is like laying on a cloud....
bananas / 9229 posts
@HLK208: It looks wider but not enough that I'd look at it and be like "wtf?" Where are you looking to put this couch? Would you prefer a couch and loveseat? I'm sure you could find that in a similar fabric/comfort-ability?
persimmon / 1223 posts
I would! haha our couch isn't stylish but it's huge and so comfortable (down fill). We purchased it while I was pregnant and I was in love with how comfy it was but thought it looked kind of blah and the sales guy was really annoying... We went and checked out some nicer looking couches at Macys and they were no where near as comfortable. For the record I don't think it's ugly - but my decor is pretty casual!
honeydew / 7230 posts
We did the opposite - bought a really beautiful couch that was not comfy at all. And we regretted it for three years before finally getting rid of it recently. Having a comfy couch has made such a huge difference for us! But we are people who spend a lot of time on our couch - I fall asleep there almost every evening, so we really learned the hard way that for us, comfort was key!
pomegranate / 3401 posts
I would buy for comfort! That couch doesn't look bad to me and you can always spice it up with throw pillows, blankets. What's the point of buying a pretty couch if it's not nice to sit on? Even if it's only used occasionally for guests.
pineapple / 12234 posts
@LindsayInNY: we have two areas where it can go, our loft, (upstairs) which we could make into a tv/rec area or our downstairs great room. The couch down there is super uncomfortable so it will need to be replaced at some point. I like couches with nice lines and pretty legs but they aren't cozy!
bananas / 9229 posts
@HLK208: I think it would fit in either area. Both of those are "comfy" settings. It's not the same as putting it into a nice living room or anything (I would think that would still go though!).
grapefruit / 4819 posts
First of all, I like the couch, second of all, comfort always wins out over looks in my book! If it's a couch you're going to be relaxing on every day, heck yeah you want it to be comfortable! What's the point of a fancy looking couch if it is uncomfortable to lay on?
Now of course there are limits to my sentiments and had you posted a picture of a burnt orange and olive green paisley couch, I would have a very different answer, but for a neutral, beige couch that will work with just about any decor and is essentially a blank canvas you can brighten up with throw pillows, blankets etc, yup, I'd go for comfort!
pineapple / 12234 posts
@dojo: where did you go?! DH and I went to every furniture store yesterday in the South Center area yesterday. We're so picky about comfort!
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@HLK208: Yeah, it's wide, but that wouldn't stop me. A good spot for sleeping, I think.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
I agree with PP's, I like the couch you have picked out! I would try to find a happy medium, semi-stylish but definitely comfortable. My DH and I had a hard time finding one that fit this bill, but finally settled on a chocolate brown couch/loveseat combo and LOVE it. We may not get complimented on the looks, but everyone LOVES how comfy they are and asks where we bought it so they can to.
... Verdict... go comfy!
persimmon / 1223 posts
@HLK208: Mor - it's SO cheesy!!! I couldn't stand the sales guy and he spelled DH's name wrong so that it made it a whole issue... but the couch is so comfy! hahaha
ETA: Sanseco (sp?) is down in the southcenter area and they do custom orders - they also had a down filled couch that we liked!

Crate and barrel has a couch that looks like that and it feels like heaven. I also think it's a nice couch, with nice clean lines so I would take it.
Our couches now are so ugly, but DH swore they were so comfortable and I was to pregnant to care when we got them. So, he won lol.
bananas / 9118 posts
Yes, we don't buy anything with style in mind, only comfort! As long as it's a neutral-ish color, so it fits in with anything, I'd go for comfort!
pineapple / 12234 posts
@dojo: yep, we went to mor too lol. Super cheesy but a little better than ikea, IMO! And actually I think a little better quality than Ashley too. We have liked Costco in the past but haven't found anything lately. We'd like to wait to get nice, nice furniture for about 6-7 years so it doesn't get nasty from having 3 kids under 5, haha.
persimmon / 1223 posts
@HLK208: I think Mor is much better than Ikea! I would say go for comfort esp. if you are thinking to get nicer looking things in the future when the kids are older. Plus they always have all their sales - and deliver super fast! Just watch out for Deon... (I think that was our sales guy's name) he tried to convince us we needed a big red shag rug and the weird royal blue colored fabric for our couch... lol)

I don't think that couch is ugly! I would just care whether it matches with the rest of the room/area. I am a little vain tho so I would try to find something that's the best of both worlds
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
I wouldn't get a couch for our livingroom if I thought it was ugly.
watermelon / 14467 posts
I don't think that couch is ugly. It's neutral, and you can always get different pillows or add a throw to it that is more your style. Couches that aren't comfortable don't get used, and you'll be using it a lot.
honeydew / 7916 posts
I'd kill for that sofa right now! As someone who owns sofas that are stylish but not all that comfy I say totally do it. And that's not really not-stylish either.
pomelo / 5000 posts
I would totally go for comfort over beauty. And who knows, it might become more beautiful in your eyes after you log many comfortable hours on it!
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
Those couches are good if you're watching a movie or something, but can be kind of a pain if you have guests and you need seating, because there's only really one or two place to sit there.

Yes I totally agree! I don't LOVE our couch/loveseat/chair but they are super comfy and clean up oh so well! Like you once our kids gets older we will invest in furniture that looks and feels amazing!!

It's not ugly, maybe more wide, but as long as it's comfy. I'm not a fan of sectionals personally. Our couch has two built in recliners from Lazy-E Boy. It's such a guy couch, but I love it.
pomegranate / 3272 posts
I just feel bad for the poor person who doesn't get the chaise side of it.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
I would but I'm more of a price, comfort than style.
We bought our first nice furniture set, so we are just starting out. Maybe when we buy a house and need to upgrade this set, I'll go for style.
We got this set for $899. It's a reclining set, too! I wish the fabric was lighter, it's a dark gray. It works for me and durable for the dogs.

@bluestriped bee: we checked out the warehouse that you walled me about! Rainbow Sprinkles found her couch there too. We were kind of overwhelmed but we did find some nice stuff!
DH and I are like goldilocks when it comes to couches...we are so picky!! We're waiting until Monday to see if there are any big Presidents' Day sales.
@MUI831: lol! I think it's wide enough for 3 people to lay there!
