The price tag on Frye boots is making me and DH cringe. I've been thinking of looking on ebay. Then I wondered if part of the appeal is to have the shoe form to your foot or what have you, making buying them secondhand sort of useless? Like it would defeat the point?
Thoughts? My birthday is coming up and we had been talking about Frye's, but not at the $350+ price tag!

I wouldn't for the reason you mentioned. The beautiful thing about leather is that it molds to your foot to get the perfect fit. Fryes are so well-made that they are not only comfy and fit perfectly but they last forever.
I actually have a pair of used Fryes - my mom's from the 70's! Her feet are a half size bigger than mine and have the same high arches, so it works. 
But really, they do last foreverrrr.

I'd avoid used that you can't try on for the reasons above. I've found Frye's on 6pm for way less than retail.

For me it would depend if they were worn much. I wouldn't buy a well used pair, but maybe one that had very minimal wear. You definitely can find those if you look (I'm actually about to list some on ebay soon, and they are just styles that didn't work for me, not ones that I wore into the ground).

I've bought well used pairs off of eBay and they fit fine, I've also bought new. I find the older versions to be wider than the new... but my first pair was off eBay and I've been hooked ever since!

I'd never buy shoes used, but that's just me. Others people feet gross me out.

No, I would not buy used shoes no matter what... they have to be new and shape to my foot. I would just wait for a good sale, which happens pretty often on nordstrom and Amazon. I got new Fryes mid calf riding boots last year for only $180! And have gotten ankle height boots for $80.

I love my Fryes because of their timeless style and the fact that they truly do last forever... worth it to buy them new and break them in with your own feet.

No to used shoes, but Frye has such good sales that you really don't need to pay full price unless there is a particular pair that you have to have right this second. I got a pair last season at Bloomingdales for more than half off. You just have to keep an eye out.

I guess I'm alone in that I bought used shoes... I never though about other people's gross feet. But I wear socks with my boots
