Ds's birthday is Labor Day weekend. I can't decide if I should have his party that Saturday or try the weekend after for a better turnout?

I would! We never go any where for Labor Day, unless it is to visit the IL's. So in that case I would love a reason to stay home.

LO's birthday is the Thursday before Labor day, and we are having it the weekend before instead, because so many people here like to do things on that weekend. I want a decent turn out so we decided against it.

Cant decide! Seems like a lot of people stay here...but then again lots of people gone too!

I wouldn't but that's also because I *hate* being on the road on holidays like that (I seriously won't even go to the store for something)... so many intoxicated people on the road! eek!

@matador84: We're doing a small family party that day, and a bigger party the next weekend . . . although we chose the next weekend because a few people on our short list were busy during the holiday weekend.

M@MsLipGloss: I'm being selfish/exhausted and considered doing that, but can't handle two parties!

@matador84: Well, the first one is not really a party . . . just a little cake/cupcake and DH and I.

I would if you plenty of notice, make a BBQ out of it!

@MsLipGloss: lol! Yeah we are going to do a party at a local pizza place here that has a great party room! It will be easy and awesome and better be drama free!

My bday is Labor Day weekend too. It's the last holiday of the summer, I would host an event that weekend.

Depends on how many people you are inviting and how far everyone lives, plus whether people like to travel.
I never really go anywhere for labor day, but I live several hours away from my family and wouldn't want to drive down in Labor Day traffic so I'd probably pass. But if a local friend had a party that weekend I'd be happy to go-- especially Sunday since i feel like that's the best day for traffic.
But if you want a big turn out maybe the weekend before or after would be better. I do like the idea of doing a little mini party, just you, DH, and LO, on the actual day.
