We lived on a busy street in Chicago and now in Indy our street is "busy" to most but we think it's totally not bad. It's kind of nice because we face out from the subdivision and don't get pulled into some of the drama. The Chicago street was nice because we were close to everything and easy to get to public transport but b.c we were on the 3 and 4th floors it wasn't too loud. We've had some friends live near hospitals and that is the loud stuff with all the sirens all the time! We did get used to rumbling/city noise and my son can sleep just about anywhere now.
Our place in Indy, the street is busy but we may have to wait like one minute to pull out of our driveway. It's really just not that big of a deal.

We live on a busy trucking route/old highway. No problem for us unless the local college kids are drag racing down the street (wish I was kidding about this one). However it only happens a few times in the summer before the school and students get the memo from law enforcement.
