It's 3 hours driving, plus the party time, for a total of 5 hours? Probably not, but I HAAAATE being in the car.

It's not about having the stuff paid for, I don't care about that, to be honest. It's that it turns into an all day affair.

Yes. Where we live the zoo is an hour from us and my sister and I go with our kids at least once during the summer season. I would make the drive for a birthday party and make a day of it at the zoo

For a close friend, yes. For a daycare family, we'd do maybe 45-1hr drive, max... Unless the 1.5 hours was well timed with a nap so LO could just sleep on the way.

Maybe for someone who lives far away. For friends that live nearby, I'd hope they choose something closer.

Yes, and we have several times. We live in Southern California and many of our friends live at least 45 minutes away. I've driven up to 2 hours for a bday party. It's just what we have to do if we want to see some of our friends.

That would basically mean a full day out, which is pretty rough on all of us! I would not, unless maybe she was quite a bit older (no need for a nap or diapers, more able to control her boredom in the car).

Yeah. We live in the outer-burbs and do drives like that frequently because downtown is almost that far away.

I said it depends. It would be a pretty long day! It would depend on our schedule, relationships, weather, and how much lo would be into the particular party activity.

We just went to a party a little over an hour away at a Children's museum (and yes, there are closer ones). It was for a friend we really don't see all that much but I was so happy we went! Maybe just make the time so kids can nap in the car there or home. This was late afternoon so LO2 took a short nap in his crib and continued in the car and LO2 slept the entire ride. They also sent us home with snacks which was a huge help.

i said no. even if it were my close friend, my dear wish would be that we find something else really cool to do that wasn't so far away.

No- I couldn't deal being in the car with two kids for that long. I would only do it if the friend lived 1.5 hours away and it happened to be at a venue close to where they live.

Only for family or possibly a really close friend. Otherwise, probably not...only because I have three kids so I would probably need to find childcare for the other two.
