I obviously love the sentimental value of my wedding band since it's the ring that we got married with! But now I kind of wish I got a different design! I mentioned it to my husband and he was a little offended that I would want to replace my wedding band with another one. He thinks it defeats the purpose.
What do you think? Would you ever replace your original wedding band with something else?

Nope. I've considered the option of adding another band in front of my e-ring at some point. But I would never actually replace my band.

I wouldn't replace my band - but only because I really love it a lot. I had wanted to change the setting of my engagement ring, though.

Sometimes I think my wedding band is a little thin, but I don't think I'd ever replace it. It's very classic and beautiful.
I would like to change the setting on my engagement ring though... not sure if that will ever happen or not.

Yes, it's a ring. My marriage is important, not so much the ring it happened with. I like my wedding rings though, I would switch out in a minute though given the chance. DH picked my engagement ring and I never could find wedding bands that went well with it, so I don't particulary love the look of my set.
ETA- DH would never let me switch my set either, because he picked the engagement ring, which is what I would change. Eek I feel bad writing it. It's lovely it just is hard to get bands for!!

And I feel like it's a joint decision, you know? UGH. It's not that I hate my wedding band but It doesn't really go with my engagement ring.

I wouldn't change mine. I know my husband spent a long time researching rings and then designing my engagement ring. The wedding bands were made to match it. I could never part with it!

I don't think I would. I love my plain, scratched up gold band. It shows where we've been and means too much to me to ever replace!

My wedding band was made to complement my e-ring so no, I wouldn't replace it. However, I have toyed with the idea of adding another ring to the set.

@rubies: I left them both at home (they don't fit my swollen fingers anymore). It may not even matter though cause he'll just say NO anyway.
@chopsuey119: I should've done that BEFORE I asked him cause he may not have noticed if I started wearing a new band. But now that I mentioned a new band, he'll totally notice. So stupid!
So I basically have a solitaire engagement ring with just a plain band. And my wedding band is an eternity band with tiny square diamonds all around. The problem is that the engagement ring stone is round and the band has square diamonds so it doesn't match.

I'm not sure exactly what kind of band I want but I know I want the stones shapes to at least match!

Mine is now attached to my engagment ring, I dont' want to replace it but I do want another one for the other side to make it symmetrical. I have hinted it would be a great push gift...however we don't really have the budget of that right now! Some day hopefully! The only thing I would do is possibly upgrade my dimaond to be a little bigger, maybe for our 10 year I can up it to a 2 carat (I don't want or need any bigger than that!)

Because our wedding was totally messed up and awful - we want to have a really nice vow renewal someday, so maybe when that day comes we'll get new rings

@banana: You need to find a band that's identical to your old one EXCEPT with round stones instead of squares. That's what I have and it looks great with my solitaire engagement ring.

@adira: That sounds perfect actually. Cause I do like that my wedding band is channel set (won't accidentally scratch my kids and don't have to worry about losing stones). I just need to get ROUND stones!

@banana: Maybe if you explain to your husband that you really just want a wedding band that will flatter your GORGEOUS engagement ring, he'd be more understanding. And explain that you really just want the same thing you have, except with round stones to match your engagement ring. Good luck!

I wouldn't replace my wedding band, but only because I really, really love it. If it didn't, I would replace it (I had my e-ring reset because I didn't totally love the original). My husband didn't care when I got my e-ring reset and wouldn't care if I got a new wedding band - neither of us are real sentimental about jewelry. It's just a ring, I guess - it should be what you truly love!
You could always ask for one as a push present, that's how I got the diamond eternity band I wanted

Maybe ask for a new one as an anniversary gift? Say that you want to preserve the one that was actually used in your wedding to hand down to your children so you don't want to wear it out.
I actually want to change both my engagement ring and band. I love them, the engagement ring is blingy and belonged to his great great grandmother, but it's too much to wear so I never wear them. I'm also afraid of ruining it with how old it is. I want to get a simpler ring to wear but haven't found anything I liked that has the same sentimental value.
I always wonder what people are thinking when my husband and I go out for dinner since he's wearing a wedding ring and I'm not plus I'm obviously pregnant!

@yoursilverlining: He's against it for sentimental reasons! Push present, 10 year anniversary present...none of that worked! UGH. I even told him "But our love is what matters most don't you think? Not a material item that we put on our fingers." ... yeah, that didn't work. =\ I think the only thing that MIIIIGHT work is if I tell him I want a new ring as a push present to wear on my right hand (like as @chopsuey119 said) and then start wearing it on my left...kinda sneaky but might work!
@lemonlong: I always wonder what people think when I don't wear my wedding ring too! I feel like people might think I'm the "other woman" that he accidentally knocked up or something. hahaha.

I'd agree with your hubby, actually. Maybe it's cause I'm only a year into my marriage, but it's too sentimental for me to replace. I could see myself adding to it or getting etching or something though.
