Yes, maybe next time when I'm no longer an FTM.

I've chosen a birth center that is next door to (but not affiliated with) a hospital, just in case, for this birth.

I'm definitely interested in natural birth. I'm hesitant to have a home birth because I don't know what to expect. I also don't want to have the mess at home. But I voted maybe.

I considered it, but was happy with my hospital birth. Unless I can get an epidural at home, hospital all the way!

I am too scared, I know I will want the drugs!!

@Leialou: It's not very messy at all! I hear this concern all the time from my clients, but I've never seen a real mess at a home birth.

Usually the midwife puts a shower curtain on the bed and covers it with some cheap sheets. Then she just picks up the whole thing and tosses it after the birth, and puts some absorbent pads on the bed for recovery in case you "leak".

And typically, the midwife and her assistant will clean up any stray messes before they leave. It's pretty neat all in all!

I voted no. I'm very into hospitals, medical professionals around 24/7, and drugs!!

Doesn't appeal to me - would be too nervous about complications!

I'd consider it, but I'm nervous about not knowing what's going on. The comfort of being in a hospital with knowledgeable staff is reassuring.

@Coco Bee: I thought the same thing when I read it. Maybe that's not what she meant though.

Hell no. I'm a fan of modern medicine and lowered risk of dying while giving birth.

I wouldn't only because I'm a wimp and need pain meds!

Yup, and I'm planning one! First time mom being cared for by midwives.

I was always deterred by hospital birth/drawn to home birth. Research confirmed that home birth would be a great option for me--just as safe as hospital, with some great benefits. In my case, my biggest concern is the procedures and interventions in the typical medical model. I don't want to go someplace where a normal, med-free birth isn't fully supported.

I also really love the midwife model of care and expectant management style. LOVE it! I seriously can't say enough good things about my midwives. They're like the OB, nurse, and grandmother figure rolled into one!

I've considered it after our first successfull unmedicated birth, though I would have been transferred because she was just taking too darn long to come out.

I don't think DH would be comfortable with a homebirth, we've talked about it a bit. I will for sure go with a midwife for my next pregnancy though.
