I haven't asked but I would in certain situations.
@indi: the ladies at my dentist office love babies and told me my whole pregnancy to bring the baby after she was born. They are great with her- last time she was sitting at the front desk shuffli their papers around while I had my teeth cleaned. But I don't consider them strangers since I've been going there for years.

I would hate to ask someone & they think I am a bad mom for letting a stranger hold my baby! Or just plain not want to. If someone offered I would totally take them up on it, but probably watch them like a hawk!
Interesting that a few said they would hand LO to a woman over a man. I must have seen too many Lifetime movies but I would be afraid a woman would want my baby for her own & steal her!
