My husband is a pretty private person, I doubt he would be okay with us hosting a stranger in our home for a year. I am unsure if I could do it or not.

My family had 3,because each of my sisters went on an exchange to Europe (at different times!). 2 of them were AWESOME and became members of our family - we still keep in touch. The boy in particular was from France and became very close to my dad - with 4 daughters, he was the son he never had!
However, one was an absolute dud. She was rude, disinterested, and quite mean to the family. We took her to Disney World and she never cracked a smile. It was like we had took her to prison, lol.

Well... I doubt it, because I would be worried about getting a bad apple and having them influencing my own children.
If I didn't have children in the house, then I would consider it.

My aunt hosted a few when we were in school. It was a neat experience, but the language barrier and culture shock can be difficult to manage sometimes. So I'd make sure I could at least communicate with them proficiently before I say yes.

I couldn't. We had a German exchange student stay with us for a couple of weeks when I was in Jr. high. :T It was weird!

Hmm, it'd be interesting but I really like my own space and privacy... don't think I could handle having a stranger living in my house... even relatives can get taxing!

Yes! I dated a foreign exchange student after I graduated. He was so dreamy! I was going to move to Spain to be with him but chickened out like the week before. And no I would not have an exchange student just to date them lol. I just think its such an awesome experience.
