My oldest DD is turning 7 this summer, and has been begging for a sleepover birthday party with a few close friends) I'm personally not ready for that just yet (and don't think the parents of most of her friends would be either), but we've landed on the idea of a "pajama party".

Essentially, she'll have a few friends (probably no more than 8 girls in total, including her and her 5 year old sister) come over in PJs the evening for a craft, pizza/cake, and a dance party/movie/popcorn/nail painting. My thought is that this should be a drop off party, since I'll be busy entertaining the girls and won't really be able to sit and chat, but if a parent wants to stay and watch, I guess that's okay with me. My thought on timing was from around 5:00/5:30 until 8:00/8:30.

Does this sound reasonable to you? I'm 99% sure the parents of her two closest girlfriends will be totally onboard, but am less sure about how some of the parents who don't really know our whole family (school friends) will like the idea. Is the timing okay, or too late? It would be on a weekend/summer night, so no school the next day. I personally think it sounds super fun, but would hate to plan something and get DD1 all excited, and have people say no because they're not ok with an evening party for kids.
