My 18 yr old nephew was just diagnosed with mono. Christmas Eve dinner is a big deal for my inlaws and we've been told he'll still be there (despite being so sick right now he can barely move - that's a story for another day). Anyway, I know that mono is transferred through saliva and so unless he starts sharing my kiddo's - aged 3 and 1 - sippy cups or licking them, the chances of him giving it to them are near zero. But, I've had mono and knowing how awful it can be (I missed 4 months of high school), I can't imagine exposing my babies to it.
What would you guys do? Still go to Xmas eve dinner or skip it, knowing it's the most important holiday event of the year to my husband?
ETA - i don't know how this ended up under vaccines? It was supppsed to be LO health. Oops.
Even if it is a minor thing, it's still pretty shitty - like, if my kid had a stomach bug or strep, I wouldn't bring her to spare everyone else the potential illness.
so crummy
