Even though it's only January, this winter has already been so rough on our family that DH semi-jokingly suggested that we move to a warmer state. I have to admit, if it wasn't for the fact that both my and DH's family all live here in MA, I probably would have pushed us to move a long time ago.
Anyone else think about this sometimes? Would you actually consider doing it, if you and/or your partner could find a job in the new place?

The problem about places with awesome weather is that they are hella expensive to live there

For sure! I think life is about trying new things. I have lived in lots of different places and we were considering a move until recently. DH got a job here he really likes, so we are grateful for that, but kind of have to bare the cold weather here!
I totally want an expedition parka though!

It would be really, really tempting! I don't think we'd move specifically for that purpose, but if there was a job opportunity, being in a more temperate climate would be a perk!

We joke but would never actually do it. Our families are here, cost of living is low, and besides the crazy highs and crazy lows, we love our state. NO other place would ever be home for us.

Yes, we've definitely talked about it. We both love NYC so much but we're tired of the cold winters. We've talked about moving to Miami.

I beg DH to find a job somewhere warmer!! We are also in MA and have no family here so it wouldn't take a whole lot to make me move! I've lived in a dozen states so I'm happy to move and have new adventures.

We actually moved to MA *despite* the weather! Maybe I'd move for weather after the kids are in college. We are in the area we're in because of the combination of our community of friends and quality schools, weather be damned! My parents are in MD where the weather is so much milder, but we're actually trying to convince them to move up here so they can be near their soon-to-be grandson! I'm highly doubtful it'll work.

I chose my university based on the wonderful Colorado climate. I am back in my home state now, but would seriously consider moving back if an opportunity presented itself.

Yes, but I wouldn't choose weather over living near family.
We already live far from family, so I would definitely consider moving. Maryland doesn't have the worst or the best weather. However, this time of year, I definitely dream of a warmer climate!
My husband loves his job and could only do the same thing in a few places. One of those places is Destin, Florida, which I think could be nice. I don't know a ton about the area, but the beaches are beautiful.

There would have to be a lot more than better weather for me. I’ve lived in Maine and Florida, and moved back to Maine from Florida and would do that a thousand times over. Sure, Florida has better weather, but stacking up quality of life comparisons, there was no contest.
I don't like winter, but weather is pretty small potatoes IMO.

Another MA bee here! I'd move if my family wasn't all here in MA, with some extended family in NY and NJ for the weather and cost of living. But my roots are deep here.

Nope! I can't imagine living anywhere without a real winter. I would like it if we could shorten our Ontario winters to only 3 months, though

Absolutely. Not right now because we have a lot invested in our careers in this area, but we will be making a move to a warmer climate in the future.

I'm dying to move to a warmer climate, and it is part of a 5-10 year plan for me and DH. But, cost of living is so high, which also makes me want to move even though I'm NY born and bred and my family is here. It's difficult to justify living here when everything is so darn expensive.
DH's family is in NC, and that kind of climate is ideal for me, seasons change but it generally doesn't get to be 6 degrees (like it was this morning here). If my family would go and DH had an easier time switching jobs, I'd do it in a heartbeat!

I've done it - lived in Hawaii for 3 years. It was great but it kinda got old pretty fast. It was ridiculously expensive and (I hate to sound whiny) but it was the same weather every single day (even when it rained it was still pretty warm). I started to really miss having seasons!

I've thought about it, but I actually like having 4 seasons. I don't think I would want to live somewhere warm year-round...at least, not at this stage of my life.

I don't think we'd move for weather alone, but it may impact our decision. Luckily, we live in an area with four true seasons, and I love it!

I'd totally do it. I really dislike cold weather and all the things that go along with it, such as black ice, having to put down salt/sand, delayed openings, school closings, having to leave my car at the office and take the train home, etc etc etc.

I live in south FL - yes, we have no seasons, it's warm all the time - and it's great. I don't miss winter or seasons at all, LOL I got really depressed with cold gray weather all the time. I cannot tell you how happy it makes me in January to walk out of my house to my car at 7:30 a.m. to go to work wearing a skirt, no tights/hose, and a short sleeve shirt!!
It is super hot and humid in the summer but honestly, it's hot everywhere, right?
But, that being said, there are a lot of horrible things about living here. Traffic is awful all the time, the cost of living is very high, and people are rude and nasty (I grew up in the south so I am not used to this and it really bothers me).
This is the southeast coast of FL, though. If I had my pick, I'd move to another place in FL with less traffic and less NY/NJ retirees (no offense to people from those places - we get a lot of old cranky snowbirds who make going to the grocery store, running errands, driving, etc. miserable!).

I like having 4 seasons, but ideally I would live in a place where winter temps only got as low as the 30s or so. I'm sick of the bitter cold. But, no we probably won't move. Our family and friends are here.

I wouldn't move from MA because of the weather. I love have four seasons, we don't really get earthquakes or hurricanes, I view it as a pretty moderate environment.

I don't live in the South (AZ or FL) where people usually think of when it comes to nice weather, but I love the weather we have up here in the NW. Sure it rains a fair amount in winter but we have no humidity, warm summers, only a small bit of snow or ice in the winter, etc. And after living on the east coast, I realized how much I love it here. So to answer your question, no reason for us to move because of weather.

We have considered moving from MA to FL because of weather and being able to do more outdoor activities. I spent 4 years of college in Arizona so I know what it is like living in warmer weather. And sure, sometimes not having seasons can be boring, but I don't feel as bored as I feel about it being cold for months! My family is scattered throughout NE so I don't live next door or anything from my family. My dad and uncle live in FL in St. Petersburg and that's why we've considered moving there. We still continually think about it.

I live in Alabama, and the weather is great. It rarely snows here maybe an inch or two once or twice a year. I couldn't live somewhere cold! Cost of living is also super cheap. We live in the biggest city in the state, so cost of living is higher here than anywhere else in Alabama, but it's still so much cheaper than other places.

Yes, we live in a southwest state that is hot all the time and has no seasons. We hate it! I grew up in the NW and we are considering moving there right as future DD (currently pregnant) is about to start school.

I live in the PNW and am obsessed with our weather. If we lived somewhere super hot and dry (texas, new mexico), or somewhere cold and/or more extreme (alaska, wisconson, new york) I don't think I could handle it!

I would consider it as a factor of a move but not my Main point.
In FL I get cabin fever in the summer when it's too hot to go out and do anything.

I've thought of it. Moving somewhere where spring starts in February would be heavenly. But I don't see us moving away from family.

Nope! I don't mind winter weather and I think hot weather isn't better at all. Haha. Family and low cost of living trumps weather for me.
Plus KY has beautiful springs and falls.

I used to think about it a lot! But I think it's out of my system now. My life would be a lot more hectic if I lived somewhere warm (aka my hometown). I like my peace and quiet

I'm from oppositeville, because I wouldn't move, because I love where I live. But I'm pretty disappointed that we haven't had more snow. Our winter has been way too warm.

Part of me sees the attraction to moving somewhere where it's always "summer", but as much as I hate winter sometimes, I'd miss it lol. We'd never be able to leave it!
