Even though it's really early, we've already started talking names (never stopped!) and we've decided we both like family names. I'd love to name a child after both of our dads, but when we put the names together, it's a famous outlaw.
Hypothetically, would you name your child the same name as an outlaw or a famous person?

@MaisyMay: What about flip flopping the names so it's not an outlaw, or does that not work?
If the outlaw murdered or raped people I wouldn't name my child after them or someone that is so famiilar that everyone would go "oh like the western outlaw?"

I don't think it sounds as good flipped, but we've talked about that. Obviously we are nowhere ready to make a decision as we are still in the 1st trimester, but it's fun to talk about.

I wouldn't name the kid after an outlaw not because of the bad juju, but I'm thinking they might be made fun of, or be tired be hearing, that yes, they're name is the same as the famous outlaw...

There are tons of boys names Jesse James and Andy James in my family, so I don't think anything at all about that.

If you like it, go for it! Most kids his age probably won't really know anything about said outlaw.

I would do it! I personally really like that name. As long as you're not going to be calling him (hypothetically :)) by his first and middle name together there's no reason for most people to know that his middle name is James and connect the two.

I was going to be named Jesse James if I was a boy! And they ended up naming me Bonnie which is still an outlaw's name...ha. I do like Jesse James actually, but DH isn't sold on Jesse.

Thinking about it though.... James would be his middle name so the name would be jesse lastname. I would probably avoid jesse if your lastname was james.

The word outlaw made me lol. I was thinking Billy the Kid and reversing them to The Kid Billy. I need sleep!
