I like it but I don't think I would get DH to go for it.

I have two girlfriends named Ryan! Ryian and Ryan. I like it but DH vetoed it.

I've worked with two girls, one spelled Ryan and one Ryann, with that name. It's not my personal taste, but then again, I'm not big on unisex names.

Yes! I've known a couple female Ryans. However, I think it's too similar sounding to your other R, so for that reason I wouldn't do it

I used to know a female Ryan and she was a total kick-ass. I would definitely consider it, but D definitely wouldn't.

It's not my favorite name for a girl, but I think it sound great with your LO's name!

I like unisex names but this is one of my least favorites.

One of my friend's daughter's name is Ryann. It's not for us, but I think it's cute!
nectarine / 2079 posts
Nope. It has grown on me, but it is a name that is strictly a boys name in my mind.

I have a friend named Reyan.. I think thats a nice variation... pronounced "Ree-Yan"
eggplant / 11408 posts
I wouldn't, but I do like the name! I like it with only one "n", though.

@littlek: I know someone who spells her daughter's name this way!
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@Smurfette: the person I know pronounces it the same as Ryan. I also know a Rian...she pronounces it "Ree-in".

If I am remembering correctly what your DDs name is, those would be super cute together!!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
I wouldn't but only because I'm not really a fan of unisex names. But it's a nice name!
pomelo / 5000 posts
Seeing that it was the name of my college boyfriend, that would be a big negative for me!

I love this name for a girl. @Smurfette: but I do think people would constantly call your girls by each other's names because they would be similar.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@MamaMoose: I think that I agree with that.
Would be easier if DH didn't say no to M!

Ryan is DH's middle name, he is named after his father's middle name so he has always said our son will be named Ryan. We are only planning on having 2 kids, so if the next one is another girl she will likely be named Ryan. Unless we decide to try for the boy with #3, in which case boy or girl, it would be named Ryan.
I actually really like Ryan for a girl.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@NeekieRose: haha! I think our daughter's share the same name already.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
Sure would. I went to school with a girl who spelled hers Rian.
coconut / 8472 posts
I think it's cute, but I feel like for her entire life people would see the name and assume/expect she's a boy.
nectarine / 2834 posts
I like it but I would never name my own daughter than because people wouldn't be sure whether she was a girl or boy.@ShootingStar: agreed!
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@ShootingStar: same thoughts. I just wouldn't want her to have to explain. But I like it in theory.
Plus it rhymes with dh's name and he has a cousin Ryan (boy) so definitely not for us.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
I wouldn't personally, i have a cousin that name but I love it!
