I see all these young toddlers (less than 24 months old) on my IG feed wearing long necklaces. I would think choking hazard. Would you put a necklace on your young toddler?

No, I tried even the amber teething and I just worried way to much! But that is me!

I have put one on my 17 month old for a minute or two while she was playing dress up with her sister. I didn't think to take a picture. But if I did I probably would've posted it on IG! Maybe it was a situation like that? If it's a legit real necklace? No. DD1 is almost 4 and I still don't trust her with a necklace besides when playing.

@FaithFertility: at D's daycare they don't allow the amber teething necklaces

@regberadaisy: it's product reps.. So I guess the young toddlers are just modeling the necklace? But I would never purchase for my young toddler

My 3 year old doesn't wear any necklaces...well other than her Sofia the First amulet.

Yes, my LO has been into jewelry and wearing necklaces since forever. They are all elastic or ones that would break easily if yanked (so no strangulation concern), and she's never put them in her mouth. She has real ones too (bought by relatives) she wears for special occasions.

I can't remember when I let her start but my toddler really likes necklaces. I only let her wear them when I'm with her and take them off before we get in the car or for sleeping of course, but she likes them. They aren't even kid ones, it's like Mardi gra beads... As long as she is supervised I'm ok with.
I won't let her wear nice ones because she would break them.

She has a few play necklaces that I let her wear when we're playing together. She doesn't go out of my sight with them on though.

No. I was ok with our amber teething necklace (from hazelaid.com), because it had a breakaway clasp, and all of the stones were individually tied on (if it broke, she couldn't eat them).
I took it off around 20 months, because she was getting so active, and it worried me.

Ehhhh, I don't know... DD1 always stole my necklaces to play in but I always kept an eye on her. But, I wouldn't let her sleep in them, for sure!

Lo has a couple Mardi Gras type necklaces that she plays with, but never sleeps in or wears for more than a few mins

I would for supervised dress up play. I have two long big beaded necklaces that both of my LOs like to play with. But I wouldn't let my daughter, who is 2, wear a necklace as an accessory. Besides, it definitely wouldn't be allowed at daycare.

I let DD wear a chunky wooden beaded necklace sometimes during playtime, but only with my direct supervision. I wouldn't let her wear one outside of that. She's 20 months.

Just for dress up/fun sure, with me there supervising.
FWIW there are a lot of people out there who are 'sponsored' read paid or given free product to have their kids model or be 'brand reps' for their lines. I was contacted by several brands when T was born since I was a working photographer at the time. Basically it's cheap marketing. Anyways it's possible that they are just taking photos for these purposes then removing.

@youboots: That's my guess, but I was just curious if people bought them.

She wore a pretty silver locket from her grandma when she was a flower girl in my sister's wedding- she was 2. But it was only for the wedding and we took it off after. I was worried she would break it! And her 'dress up' necklaces only get worn for a bit at a time. If she were going to wear any 'real' necklaces, she would have to take them off for bed.
