DH doesn't care for all the antler stuff I'm drawn to, so I need an unbiased opinion... What do you think of this mixed in with other woodsy prints and accessories for nursery?

I don't like that particular one but I would definitely put something similar up. You should try looking on Etsy.

@travelingnanny: Agree. I love an antler idea but this antler is so... Not antler like?

I'm generally not a deer head kind of girl but I do love the paper/newspaper ones like this :

@runnerd: What's the other decor like? Is it woodsy like forest creatures? Do you have any pics of other stuff currently in the room?

@lawbee11: it's all going to be woodsy animals, outdoorsy stuff
Does anyone have suggestions on where to look for a better antler type wall hanging under $50?

Have you tried ModCloth? They had a lot of woodsy/antler things last time I looked on there.

@Elderberrygin: ooo good call, I'm looking there now and they have a lot of neat stuff

The photo you posted reads more skull than antlers. I'm sure it's the color. I think if you are going woody, brown (faux) antlers are better than white. White reads southwest desert to me.

@char54: Yes! Look at cardboard safari on etsy. We're using the white jr deer head for our loose themed outdoor nursery and I LOVE it!

I think the antlers kinda change the whole vibe of the room... like, "Oh hey, cute little squirrels/deer drinking by a stream/tree decals" to "Oh, there's a deer's skull on the wall." I guess if the theme is more outdoorsy/hunting vs. woodland creatures, it would fit better.

@HabesBabe: yea def not hunting themed. I guess this is my inspiration of something cutesy/rustic. I actually have that bird already.

Honestly, no, I wouldn't use it. It looks a little too real for me.
The carboard ones are slightly better, but still give me the heebie jeebies when I think about what they represent.

I'm not a big fan of antlers in general. For outdoors/woodsy theme, what about incorporating pinecones somehow? That always feels rustic to me.

Here are some other ideas for wall hangings:

ETA: these are some fun prints, too:

Also, I know that this is a Christmas wreath, but you could also make it into a mobile by leaving out the wreath/candles and hanging pinecones upside down

Well I had talked myself out of buying the antler in orig, then I saw this on Pinterest with the same west elm antlers so went for it!

I like them! But I personally like the fauxidermy look. We're considering adding antlers to our nursery too. I know they have them for sale on Etsy and Z Gallery, but that West Elm is a really good price.

I saw some paper mache newspaper antlers I really liked from Restoration Hardware (we did a woodsy theme too)
