Keep your current stage of WAHM, WOHM, or SAHM or change it?
I would make minor adjustments (more $$$, different field), but i love being a WOHM

I am a WAHM and love all the opportunities it has given me yo earn an income and care fir my family and home. That said, it would be great to work a bit less.

I will most likely be a WOHM. If I could, I would be a SAHM in a heartbeat.
pomegranate / 3768 posts
I WOHM four days out of the week. I wouldn't change it. I feel like it's the right home/work balance for me right now.

Right now I would like to switch from being a WOHM to SAHM.

I am currently on mat leave but I don't think I am going back to work. I really want to stay at home.

I'd stay a SAHM. As much as a lot of days I'd LOVE to at least be working part time I wouldn't want to miss these days.
bananas / 9357 posts
I'm a WOHM and I think ideally working part time would be best for me but I do wish to be a SAHM too.
pineapple / 12526 posts
Im part SAHM, part WOHM. I'd stay like I am or go full WOHM.
I will never go back to being a full SAHM if I can help it.

I'm a SAHM. I want to go back to work usually. But lately I haven't wanted to my plan was to go back when DS was year and that is quickly approaching.

I'm a WOHM and although there are days where I wish I could stay home, I wouldn't change it.

I plan on being a SAHM while the kids are little and then being a WAHM when they get older/are going to school.
honeydew / 7909 posts
Right now, I only work 3x a week and when I return from maternity leave, I'll only work 2x a week... I think the only thing I'd change is for my job to be closer to home. I don't think I'll like being 70 minutes from my baby. Soooo, I guess I'd stay WOHM. Buuuuuuut, if I could be a WAHM as a nurse, I would!

I'm a WOHM. I just got a promotion that will allow me some more flexibility in schedule. This the perfect arrangement for me.

Right now I WAH. I'd prefer to work part time in a real office. And at a different job.
persimmon / 1128 posts
I'm a WOHM. I was a SAHM with my first, for a year, and I realized that it wasn't for me. Ideally, I would love to work part-time so that I could drop off/pick up my children from school, and still feel like I'm contributing financially to our household.

I'm a SAHM and wouldn't change it for all the money in the world! I had 8 years of working in my chosen field after graduate school and feel completely satisfied in my accomplishments. To me, there is no better, nor more difficult, job than being a SAHM, yet the rewards are so amazing, I couldn't imagine wilfully missing out on them.
We are fortunate enough to be in a financial position where I don't need to work, so I will continue to stay home until all of our children are in school full time. At that point, I will return to work part time, potentially full time if I return to the school setting as the hours work well with school aged children.

I have similar feelings to @shinymama:
Right now LO is 1year old and I'm looking for a Job due to our financial situation.
In an ideal world I'd work 8am -3pm or so, so that I can pickup kids from school.

I like being a wohm. I would like to cut back to 32-36 hours though! My job lets us live a pretty nice lifestyle!

I really really enjoy being a sahm so I wouldn't change it but I do miss extra money!!!

I recently changed jobs to have a shorter commute and more flexibility. With that arrangement, I love being a WOHM mom. If I could change one thing maybe it would be to work 3/4 time just to have a little more free time around the house to work on projects, but I think I'd probably always wish for a few more hours of free time no matter how much I had! Overall I'm very lucky with my current situation.

I WOH 5 days/week as a teacher right now and I love my job. I don't think I'm cut out for full SAHM but ideally, I would teach 3-4 days a week so I could have more time with LO. I do miss him!
honeydew / 7283 posts
I love my part time WOH schedule. I work 24 hours / week. I would rather not work any nights, weekends or holidays, but it's part of the gig.

I'm a mix of the three depending on the day- SAHM, WAHM, WOHM. Some days I teach on site, do tutoring, others I run an online class, and other days I avoid work completely. I love my setup, but would always love more money and smaller class sizes. Other than that I have a lot of job satisfaction. One of my eventual goals is to write a text book for our national boards, I'm just getting started on that project though.

Id love to be a SAHM but unfortunately I'll probably always have to work. At least I get to work part time though
pomegranate / 3003 posts
I just made the decision to stay home, but plan to return to work by the time DD (3 months) is one. I would ideally work part time, but make full time salary.
coconut / 8483 posts
Currently I work at home, but its not the type of job I could do with a LO here, they'd have to be in full time day care. I'm planning to be a SAHM, but we will see after my maternity leave if it's for me or not! I hate my job so that might be part of it.

definitely love being a wahm, but wish i could work less. 30 hours max a week would be ideal!

@MamaMoose: congrats on the promotion!
I am a SAHM and I love it, wouldn't change it. In the future once he is in school I'd like to work part-time.

I'll be a WOHM and I think I would stay a WOHM. I don't think being a SAHM would be good for me.

I'm a WOHM and my ideal would be to work either 2-3 days a week or 4-5 hours a day.
pineapple / 12234 posts
I would love to be a WOHM part time with decent income. I'm a SAHM right now and although I love it at times, I would also love to feel like ME again (I love working!).
grapefruit / 4136 posts
I wish I could either WAH so I would have the flexibility to toss a load of laundry in, start supper...etc (my last job I could WAH occasionally if needed) or only work part time. 10-3 M-F or 3 days/week would be ideal. It's really hard to stay on top of everything, I struggle and am home by 5:30-5:45 every night.

We're crazy broke, but I don't even care... I love staying home with my girl. I wouldn't trade it for a six figure salary. I've got my dream job, and we're making it work.
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
@Ree723: I feel exactly the same as you and I think, like you, it has a lot to do with the fact that I worked through law school and practiced for 7 years before having LO. I freakin love staying at home with my LO right now...she'll be 2 in a few weeks and I have loved every minute of it and wouldn't trade the past two years for anything.
So currently I would definitely keep things the same and continue being a SAHM but I have no idea if I'll still feel this way in a few years. I can see myself wanting to do something other than being a SAHM once my kids are in school
coconut / 8475 posts
@Ree723: that is LITERALLY our exact plan. Sham until kids are in school, then work part-time, unless I get a school job (rare openings), then I will work full time in that case. Except, I am not so zealous about it, as it was a tough transition for me to go from woh to a sahm, but that is only because my city is boring and the weather is bad so I get very stir-crazy. I do love the precious moments that only I share with my son:))
@photojane: my parents were BROKE but my dad supported y mom's courageous decision to stay home with us kids . Now, I am 24 and she is working full time with a Ph.D in her dream job! So, never regret what you're doing!! Priorities, priorities!
coconut / 8475 posts
@babyjmama: I can TOTALLY see you being a sahm in the future! Imagine all the time we'd have to roam the mall together? Hehe :)))))

I love staying home and wouldn't change it. There are some days when I miss my old work but it's usually just for one second
