Hawaii! I'd love to go to London but that's something I would prefer to do child-free.

My son's only 6 months, so Hawaii. But when he gets older I'd pick London!

Undecided, we've been to both with our older LO and both trips were fine! I would think about what you want to do/see, and decide which would be more enjoyable with your LO.

Hands down Hawaii! London is great, but I remember I did sooo much walking!

Hawaii with a LO, just because I'd want to do so much sightseeing and running around in London, and I'm not sure a young child would be up to it all. Feel free to ignore my advice based on zero experience (yet) though, lol.

I haven't been to London yet, but Hawaii is amazing! DH and I were talking last night about planning a trip to take LO.

We took DD at 8 mo and will again at 18 mo to Hawaii. I'd love to go to London if the plane ride were shorter.

@lamariniere: Ha, yeah, I wish we could just do both! My stepkids would be with us and I sort of think they'd benefit more from going to London. There's so much history there it's pretty incredible. M did awesome in NYC (and loved it), so I'm not worried about her in London at all.

Tough call... I want to go to Hawaii SO BAD but the super long flight with lots of connections makes me want to gouge my eyes out. London is only a 4 hour direct flight for us so it's a lot closer.
That being said, my favourite parts of London were the shows, restaurants, shopping and history tours - none of which C would particularly be interested in.

Where am I traveling from? If from my home here in NYC, then London because it's a shorter more direct trip. Also her sleep is wonky so easier to go east than west. Plus, we can see family.

Hawaii! We went last summer when DS was 20 months. We had a great time! He still talks about the trip almost a year later.

With kids I'd say London because of the flight. We just did a 12 hour flight elsewhere and it was miserable. Never again.

@BKCaribBaby: From where we are Hawaii is 8.5 hours and London is a little over 9 hours. Both nonstop.

I voted Hawaii, but we're waiting to do the trip until my son is old enough to do a helicopter ride and go on a volcano hike and actually get something out of it without throwing a fit.

LONDON! We went to Europe as our last Pre-TTC trip and spent the whole time we were in London talking about how we need to come back with our kids. I remember specifically at the Tower of London exclaiming how kids would get a kick out of the suits of armor and the crown jewels.
If they are older than 7, London.
If they are younger than 7, Hawaii

I voted London, but mainly because that's a short 5 hour flight for us, versus like 12 to Hawaii.
Plus, *I* would rather go to London.

@lamariniere: We haven't discussed it with them because we want it to sort of be a surprise. But my stepson and husband are obsessed with an English Premier League team and could go to a game if we went to London, so I know my stepson would pick London.
@ModernDayJibarita: 3 out of the 4 will be older than 7. My DD would be 4 at the time of the trip.

For us, the flight to London would be only half the time to get to Hawaii but I think I'd still choose Hawaii. It's one of my favorite places in the world. London is great too, though. Definitely different types of vacations.

@lawbee11: if your youngest is going to be around 4 at the time, definitely go to London!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@lamariniere: She'll either be 4 or about to turn 4. We're planning to use miles so I've got to plan ahead

I think my kids would love to go to London just to ride all of the different kinds of public transportation available... Hawaii is always a no-brainer though.

Based on your responses - London! DD1 is almost 4 and would do wonderfully in London. Public transpo is super easy and convenient in London.

Hawaii hands down. However DH and I have been talking about Hawaii for some time now.

@lawbee11: Hmm...interesting. based on these new answers I think it's really about what you want to do on vacation. Are you all active and like to explore: London. just want to lie on/play at beach: Hawaii (although Hawaii has lots of places to explore, too).

London but I'm biased. It's a quicker trip for me and my dad lives there soooo it'd be more fun for us to go there. If those factors weren't in play, I'd do Hawaii.

Initially I was thinking Hawaii, based solely on the fact that it would be easier/more relaxing with a LO. But based on your answers, I'm thinking London. The older kids, especially, would love it!

@lawbee11: I would probably cater towards the older kids and do London then - at age 4 I would imagine your DD would just go with the flow!
pomegranate / 3983 posts
I think the older kids would love London! 4 is also a great (easy) age for travel so I think you can't go wrong.

I had a blast on a trip to London as a teenager, but as an adult I cannot really fathom using vacation time and money to go somewhere if I'm not excited about the food, the beauty of the surroundings, and the weather, very much preferably all three. Definitely Hawaii a million times over.

London with my LOs, if I can get through the flight. Hawaii feels like something I would rather do w/o LOs. I think I would want to relax on a beach.

Hawaii!! But London when they are older. My parents took us to London when we were 11/12 and we loved it. So I'd like to take my kids around that age.
Hawaii would be good now though. Both kids LOVE the water!

@lawbee11: yay for a trip with miles! When we went to Hawaii it was with miles.
