I made that decision when I got a degree in studio art and a masters in art therapy. I'd much rather do something I love and be poor.

Yeah, a high paying job I don't love wins out for me. Money doesn't make the world go around or buy happiness, but it sure makes things easier.

Having experienced one high-pressure, high-stress, for-the-money job, I can say I'd rather eat hot coals than work at something I don't love.
Do what you love, and learn to make money doing it.

Clearly I'd rather do something important to me, that I love, more than make money. I'm an aid worker - so clearly money isn't a high priority here.
On the other hand, I do understand those who make the decision to prioritize salary - it can be very difficult and stressful when you have a low paying job.

DH and I are both teachers so we've accepted the low salaries because we love what we do. Sometimes on bad days I wonder "WHY did I choose to do this again" because obviously its not for the pay haha

High paying that I don't love, haha. Although, I'm really lucky. I'm so easy going and I enjoy what I do. As long as I'm working with good people, I'm pretty happy.

That's a tough one but I'd go with a low paying job that I love. I had a high paying, super stressful job and I remember thinking that this wasn't how I wanted to live my life. But then again, not having a lot of money is stressful too. =\

High paying, as long as I do not absolutely hate it.

My first response is "low-paying but awesome/rewarding," but I think that's mainly because I have the luxury of having a husband with a very secure and relatively well-paying job, as well as a family that would definitely help us out if we needed it.

High-paying. I would suffer a little bit to get a good paycheck.

Dream job that doesn't pay very well. My ultimate dream is to be a SAHM right now, and we all know that pays $0.00 dollars a year.

I think the term *high-paying* is relative to the amount of stress and the demands of the job. I have one of my *dream* jobs (although it was only a dream job until I got it - lol! you don't know what you don't know), and I think I am paid well (I could totally support myself without any major life adjustments). The only reason I haven't pursued a lower-stress and/or lower-paying job is that I like feeling like I relieve at least some of the burden from DH's shoulders. He is paid very well, but I just like him knowing that he's not all alone out there, if that makes sense.

I would say high paying I don't love, as long as it's bearable (and I guess I could say that's what iIm doing currently!) I would love to switch fields, but we enjoy the comfort right now with our current pay.

High paying because paying the bills with little money can be stressful and add strain to your marriage. No bueno!

Right now, I'd rather have a job I loved that doesn't pay well, because I know that DH's income can support us. If I was dependent on my income to support myself/my family, then I would likely prioritize the salary over whether I actually like the work,.

I'd work a job that I don't love for the good paycheck, bank all my money then do something I love for not so great pay. Money is more important right now than happiness, 'cause neither one of us is happy right now

Well, I'm going back to school to become a librarian, which isn't exactly a lucrative career choice, so...

Having done both- definitely the dream job. I really didn't like myself when I had to drag myself to a job that I hated every day.
These days I love working a couple days a week at a job I enjoy and staying at home the rest of the time with my lil monster. So much fun!

I think job satisfaction plays a huge role in being happy. But for me, it isn't a hard choice really. As a pharmacist, there are two main paths for me, retail or hospital. Retail pays way better, but I would hate it. Hospital is exactly what I want to do, but doesn't pay as well. However, it still pays awesome, so it wasn't a hard choice for me. I LOVE my job.

I'd rather be doing something I love and be poor. Wealth is relative. If we can afford things we can afford it but if not then either we come up with a plan to save or try to be realistic about our true needs and what we want.
