DH and I are dying to see the movie Lincoln when it comes out. LO is usually super awesome and quiet in his car seat but still just the thought of him making a peep during a movie makes me nervous!

No but my NB cries a lot lately. When she was under a month, in a world where there weren't germs, sure! Yours is 7w right? You have to have a life, that's what my MIL tells me. I'd go and then just sit near the door, but it wouldn't be as enjoyable as going without LO just because of the stress of LO maybe crying. Maybe I'm just suffering from being inside all the time..but yeah I'd go, lol.

do you have baby movie showings near you? our theaters have some shows where they lower the volume & leave the lights dimmed, but not as dark for parents with lil babies so they can go to the movies with their LOs.

I don't think I would. Like @mrs. bird: , there are theaters near me that do the baby friendly matinee, but they are usually during the day so if one of you is working, might not work anyway.
But I do think if you go to an earlier showing that might not be as crowded (so, a few weeks after it opens), and sit near the door, it could be doable.
I saw an opening night midnight showing of Wanted and there was a women with a teeny tiny baby-- probably less than a month-- and I just remember thinking there were so many germs around. But it was SUCH a small baby.

Nope, I wouldn't want him around that many people and in a noisy theater.

No, I would be too paranoid about being the parent with the crying baby!

No, like Autumnlove, my baby crying would stress me out to no end and I don't want to be *that* parent.
I would go to the matinees designated for babies though.

I would be more concerned about the noise level than him crying.

I'm looking forward to taking LO to the drive in when she's here. That way if she cries, we'll be the only ones to hear it. Plus I'll get some privacy if she needs to nurse.

I took both my lo's to the movies when they were newborns but they were both really quiet and slept the whole time.

I wouldn't.. only because the surround sound is so loud.

My bil took their lo with no problems. I think it just depends on your baby. Mine had reflux and was never one to be able to sit still and quiet, so it never would have worked for us.

I did! I just wore something easy, so the second she made a peep, I just shoved a boob in her mouth. People in front of us even complimented us on how good she was about it.

I did! With both my kids. DS slept the whole time, and DD woke up, but I just fed her and she fell back asleep!

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for a date night out for mom and dad while you leave LO at home!
Personally, I would only take my baby to one of the baby friendly matinees that they have around here. It's too loud otherwise.
Or, does your cable provider have movies on demand that you can rent at home while they're still in theaters? I've done that before, it was perfect for pregnancy because you can pause it if you need to get up and use the bathroom :).

I wouldn't, because I'm terrified of him crying. I'd have no problem nursing him there, but he is SUCH a loud eater, it wouldn't be all that much better than him crying!
I would go to the baby friendly ones though, totally.

No because I think it is too loud in there for a NB.

No way, noise!
I'm pretty sure my theater does "mom and me" type movies early in the day with lights & lower sound.

Nope. If we really wanted to see a movie, we'd have one of our parents watch the baby. Most likely, we'd skip it altogether though~

I wouldn't just because I'd be afraid they'd start crying and I'd be mortified. I'm totally that person in the movie theater who makes a big deal out of any interruptions.
And I didn't even think about the noise factor until I read other people's responses. So apparently I'm a really fit parent lol.

No. It is way loud in the movie theatre that cant be good for a baby's ears. My baby didnt like loud noises in the beginning, she is 6 months old now and I still wouldnt take her.

Nope, I think that's really selfish so I wouldn't do it (and obviously I give people the side-eye if I see a baby in a theatre, especially if it's a PG-13/R-rated movie.
