Heck no.
It seems to be all the rage with celebs though.

@chopsuey119: I have shown my mom. That is enough!

NO WAY! as a maternity photographer, i don't even take them. i think the pregnant body is beautiful, but i just can't handle nudity.

@Andrea: You B! You better send me the pics! haha. Just one.. pleasseeee..
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
I would, but .... I just don't feel like having my photo taken at all right now.

@chopsuey119: you crajee. Oh, I still owe you a wedding photo. I keep forgetting, sorry!

Nope, I'm too shy.
But we have talked about my husband taking nude maternity photos of me with our DSLR. For our eyes only! hehe

Never, I will never be comfortable enough with my body to do that and I would never show them to anyone either way.

Nope. I felt good pregnant and looked great, I think. But what would I do with the photos??
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
No. Waste of money, Imo. I'd prefer to spend it on baby photos. Who cares what I look like, I want to remember her years down the line, not being preggo. Especially nekked!!
@Andrea - go you!

@Andrea: Why would you take them if you don't want to show them! I want to see too, I bet they're beautiful!
I would be way too shy to show anyone.... so for me it would be a waste to show. Plus the stretchmarks were crazy, it just wouldn't be a pretty sight.

@artbee: it is for me to have and remember the joys of being pregnant with my daughter. i don't think the purpose of taking photos is to show everyone. hopefully my daughter won't mind seeing them some day. i think it will be special to show her. i have the photos in a beautifully bound leather book with her name and month/year of birth on the cover.

@artbee: thanks! and all my -ahem- private parts are tastefully covered for the record.
@mediagirl: thanks! hehe.

If you are brave enough, more power to you! Personally I don't think my modesty standards will change when I am pregnant... if anything I will be more self conscious! I feel like, if I wouldn't take pictures showing my naked belly non-pregnant, I don't know why I would just because there's a kid in there. I'll spend the money when they're out and you can see him/her!

I think that if you feel comfortable with it, you should totally go for it. I won't be, but I am just not that comfortable doing it, I might do some semi-nudes for my mat pics in 2 weeks, just to see how they turn out, because you only have one chance to get the pictures done.

Nope, not for me. I wouldn't want them accidentally found! It was bad enough for me that I pulled up my shirt over the belly each week for one of the photos since it looked totally different from the shirt over the belly.

No way- I even hate bare belly shots. I just feel like I wouldn't do that sort of photo normally, so why would I while pregnant? I did do a fun, clothed maternity shoot at 7 mos.
grapefruit / 4770 posts
I would. I agree with pp about them being for you and to document your journey. I wouldn't do them with legs spread or anything, but tastefully covered? Sure. I did a boudoir shoot for hubby which he wasn't expecting and he absolutely loved it-and so did I. It was a great experience, and again I wasn't bending over doing spread eagle or anything like that.

@Andrea: I figured they were! Were they professionally done?
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@artbee: yes, she specializes in maternity and boudoir shoots. I did a combo of shots with/with out clothes and alone/with DH.

I wouldn't even take CLOTHED maternity photos because I feel so ugly pregnant. I don't want to remember looking like this!
clementine / 994 posts
I wouldn't. I can see the beauty in the idea and why people would want them done, but I wouldn't be comfortable with the situation for myself. I have a hard enough time posing for the camera with my clothes on. My photog friend showed me a shoot he did where the woman had just her belly exposed (top and bottom covered), and even the thought of doing that makes me a little squirmy. I guess I don't like being exposed?

I did a maternity session and LOVED it, I loved how they turned out.
I did a couple bra + panties shots just for my husband, but no, I didn't do any naked. I did have bad stretch marks, but my photographer photoshops them out. I thought that the almost-naked shots were just as good. I didn't want naked ones.
So no, I guess I wouldn't do naked ones. I guess I wouldn't know what to do with them either.
