I do know someone. I don't know the details beyond they were told the wrong info at their 20 week scan, and they never had a follow-up ultrasound to catch the mistake. Yikes.

I had mine pretty early and the tech wasn't able to see much but eventually told us we were having a girl (didn't really sound confident tho). That was my last ultrasound and I just keep thinking it's a boy for some reason. I'm 32 weeks now and keep wondering if baby will be a boy when I deliver

My friend was told she was having a girl. She and her DH were so excited (1st baby) and they both imagined their lives and home with a baby girl. Then she had another scan later and was told baby was a boy. She initially felt devastated then guilty that she felt devastated. But her boy is now 5 years old and is the BIGGEST mamas boy

@Mrs. Deer: I also had a vivid dream that my son was born just a head and he just always hovered around me. So. Try not to put too much stock in the dream
But yeah, incorrect gender is more likely than a floating-head-baby.

@Mrs. Deer: I dont know anyone personally that had this happen. For peace of mind you can have blood work done that is supposedly 95% accurate. I had that done with DS because it also looks for chromosomal issues and so I found out before the anatomy scan that we were having a boy

@Mrs. Deer: My husband's cousin's wife was told girl at 15 weeks during an elective gender scan. She was in a car wreck a few weeks later and during that ultrasound found out that their girl was actually a boy.

I don't know anyone to whom this has happened IRL. I will say that I had super vivid dreams that DD1 was a boy throughout that pregnancy and my mom apparently had the same while expecting me, so I don't put too much stock in dreams.

@Mrs. Deer: yes... I had a friend who was told girl at 16 weeks, but it was a boy, which she found out at 20 weeks

Yes, actually just recently a friend of mine was told they were having a girl at their 20 week ultrasound...fast forward to 30 weeks and they were informed it was in fact a baby boy!! It seems to happen this way more than switched around vice versa. Crazy!!

I do know someone who this happened to. They were told it was a girl and surprise it was a boy. But that was 25 years ago.

I don't know anyone in real life that this has happened to. Only internet folks!

I have a friend who had 2 boys and was told a girl her scan that her third was going to be a girl. She loves her boys but was so excited. Fast forward to her labor that went awry and ended in an emergency c-section under general anesthesia and when she woke up she was handed a healthy baby boy. It took her a few days to come to peace with everything that happened. But Those are three awesome
Brothers now (3 yrs later).

Not exactly the same thing, but our bloodwork (MaterniT21) indicated that we were having a boy. When I got the call with those results, I just couldn't wrap my head around it because I was positive I was carrying a girl. And sure enough, at our anatomy scan they saw a girl (who is now 7.5 weeks old)! But we do know that we had a vanishing twin, so that sweet angel must have been a boy.

Yep! About 7 years ago Madison became a Jacob in DH's cousin's family. She had 2 separate U/S and they said girl and he came out a boy. it was a shock (her third baby!)

Wait, I'm now remembering that this happened to my girlfriend! She had an ultrasound by her sister (an OB) at 16 weeks and her sister said girl. Her actual anatomy scan a few weeks later very clearly showed a BOY.
