I would go! Babies are easy at that age on planes...so as long as your DH doesn't mind going alone to the NFL game, do it! Or can he sell/give away the extra ticket? Or see if he has a friend that would pay their own way (like totally on their own, NOT staying with you guys) to Texas for the free NFL ticket? Someone that loves football and would go just for that game?

Is it Houston or Dallas??

I'd go. Sounds more fun than staying home alone with LO for a few days. First time I travelled with L, he was 3 months. I did a road trip to Montreal by myself and it was the easiest travelling experience I've had with him to date!

I'd also bring the car seat if u are planning to drive. And the stroller for walking. Even if you wear him a lot, the stroller is nice to have to put your stuff, and LO if u need a break from wearing. Then u can go out for long walks.

Why wouldn't you go to the NFL game, it shouldn't be any worse than the NHL game. Texas Stadium is a site not to be missed though I might be biased I'm a huge cowboys fan

Id totally go, get a baby carrier, leave the stroller at home and have fun!

If you're not going to go the the game I wouldn't go. I feel like that's a waste of the prize and it would be more fun for DH to go with someone who would really enjoy it.

But I would go with a 3 month old and go to the game.

@Reese: I'd think the nhl game would actually be more rowdy! But I'm with !@jetsa: I think it's be worth going to the nfl game just to go to cowboys stadium.

@Reese: You should totally go! Shortly after LO was born, we found out that DH would be going to New Zealand for work when LO would be 2 1/2 months old. We've never been, and as I had loads of air miles, and LO would be travelling as a lap infant, we decided to go for it. DH would go, and we would join him after his week of business was done. We stayed 9 days together.

We got LO's passport done when he was about 5 weeks, and had it back within 7 days (we live in Ontario, as well, and it's best if you can go to a passport office, instead of mailing it). We checked with his paediatrician, and she said it would be fine, as he would already have his 2 month vaccines done.

We rented a seat from a baby store (due to local regulations), brought the Mountain Buggy Nano stroller (bc it folded easily and was light), as well as our Beco carrier. We used both depending on the activity. You may be fine with just a carrier, but it is free to gate check both your stroller and car seat. I have a cover for both to keep them clean, but have seen people leave theirs without anything, or just a clear garbage bag. The bonus to gate-checking is that many airlines will allow you to bring the car seat on board for LO to have their own seat, if the flight is not sold out.

With your LO being breastfed, travel is so easy. And take-offs and landings, which are difficult for older children due to pressure changes, are made easier if you can feed during that time - although, for safety's sake, you should hold LO in the burping position for initial take-off and touchdown, as directed.

Sorry for the novel, but I encourage all my new mom friends to get out and travel if they have the opportunity. It's a great way for you and DH to bond, too.

Personally, I'd stay home but more because I wouldn't be interested in that particular trip than because I'd be nervous about the travel. Also, I just wasn't mentally ready to do anything big until DD was a bit older than 3 months -- it was hard to get into a good routine and feel like I had things sort of together again, so I know I wouldn't have had fun if we took a trip. It was just better for me to be a homebody for awhile. BUT obviously these reasons aren't necessarily applicable to you! If you feel up to it and think it would be fun, the logistics of travel with a baby really aren't that bad, especially when they're not yet mobile and opinionated!

I wouldn't have been able to take my LO as she was extremely fussy at that age but had she not been I would have taken her!

I'd recommend starting her passport early thoug just in case anything goes wrong.

I personally wouldn't go. I wouldn't feel comfortable flying and being in all those crowded places with a three month old who's only received one set of shots (though maybe Canada's vaccine schedule is different). Add on the hassle of getting passports and figuring out everything you need... meh! I'm also not a big NHL or NFL fan, so I'm sure my husband would have more fun bringing a friend.

I would totally go. You can bring LO to both games as long as you wear him. He'll probably just sleep right through the game. I would not worry about the flights as babies tend to just sleep on planes - they're giant vibrating white noise machines.
The carseat you can keep on you until you board the plane then you are either lucky and there is a spare seat or gate check it. You should bring a bag though. As for your stroller, you'll have to check with the airline but most airlines cover damaged strollers. I've flown with two of our three strollers multiple times and never had issues with them getting broken etc. I do usually put them in a plain travel bag though. And our big stroller we've checked as bulky luggage before (at no cost) that way it was handled with extra care.

My DH is a huge huge die hard hockey and football fan. If he won a trip like that and I couldn't even go to the games with him I would tell him to bring his brother. It's no fun being at a sports game by yourself and I can't imagine he'll be enjoy it as much with his newborn right next to him. I would send DH with a buddy!

@Reese: it's supposed to be! It's only a few years old, and the screen above the field is supposed to be the largest high def screen in the world.

Personally I'd just stay home since it's not a long trip and just let him have a guys weekend. Esp I don't even care for the sport and to me it's a lot of hassle to rent a car, lug LO around, etc. And if you're solo you have to deal with all the feedings when you're out, etc. And I feel like it would suck for DH to be so excited at a game but all by himself!

I would stay home for this one. I would be really bummed about it, but I would pass and let DH take a friend. I don't think the baby will be a huge issue, but lugging around all the baby stuff would definitely put a damper on the weekend.

I would go. We took my son to England at 4 months and it was great. Babies are generally easy to travel with at that age because they sleep so much and don't do much else (night and day from when we took him at 16 months and he just wanted to run up and down the plane aisles!) You don't say what city it is but if you google baby equipment rental + city you should get some options, you could just rent a car seat and stroller and then you wouldn't have to lug them around.

@Reese: there will be crowds at both games, but at least in my experience NHL tends to be a rowdier crowd. the stadium is really awesome itd be worth a tour if you don't go to the game.

@Reese: Honestly I think the NHL game would be full of more drunks than the football game! The Cowboy stadium is incredible, worth visiting even if not a sports fan. You can walk around and visit the shops with LO. You can gate check a car seat and stroller (I would take both for a trip like this)
