We have a fake tree with LED lights. Love it!

Real!!!! Love love love the smell!

Fake. Haven't got the patience to be picking up needles on a regular basis!

We always get real but after pulling needles out of our rug as recently as July I want a fake one from now on.

I prefer real trees but we travel over the week of Christmas so we are going to finally bite the bullet and buy a fake one this year so we don't come home to kindling. There are some decent ones, I think we are going to get the GE Just Cut Fraser Fir, it is $279 from Home Depot and it is my favorite from that price point. If we find we are going to stick with a fake tree we might eventually bite the bullet and buy one of the really nice ones but they are pricey if you aren't sure that's what you want.

A friend suggested the compromise of a table top real tree with a full sized fake tree which we might eventually do too.

We get a fake tree because DH is a little allergic and we live in an apartment building. Once we have our own house and a bigger living room, we will be getting a real one. Nothing beats that smell.

We always had a real tree growing up. I love them and prefer them. Now for the past few years we have had a fake tree and will probably continue to for the next while.

We had fake growing up and, all through my adult life - moving from rental to rental - I have had a fake tree. So, for our first Christmas in our own home (and as a married couple) I insisted on having a real tree and now I'm hooked. Real all the way!

Fake! Cheaper and less mess. Good thing I like fake cause DH is allergic to real ones. I buy candles to fake the smell!

I prefer real and it is what we grew up with, but my family switched to fake about ten years ago. I love the smell of a real tree but it is such a fire hazard and they just don't last that long, so I would only go with a fake tree now.

We currently don't have a tree, due to constant moving and the fact that we travel every Christmas, but when we settle down and start putting up a tree, it will be a nice fake one.

We always did real as a kid, and while it's fun to go out to the tree farm and pick one out, I hate the mess, spiders, and dried-out fire hazard that come with real trees. So, we have a nice looking fake with LED lights. I do miss the smell of real pine though!

When I was a kid we always used a fake tree because a real one would bother my Dads allergies. I was always jealous of my friends families who had real trees because I loved the smell. I always thought that DH and I would go for a real tree our first Christmas together but we just ended up borrowing a fake one from my parents...it was just so much easier that way.This year we'll be spending the holidays abroad so I doubt we'll bother to decorate. Maybe next year!

our house is small and we've gotten a small tree the last couple of years, but there just isn't a place this year. so i found this on pinterest and we're gonna try it out!

I really prefer real trees, because that was what we grew up with. I have really great memories of going to the tree farm with my family every year. BUT, since I've been living with DH, we have always had a fake because I wanted a 12' tree in our 2-story living room and buying a 12' tree each year would be expensive and a lot of work. I usually make up for it with real wreathes and garlands so I get the smell of a real tree, but the ease of pre-lit tree.
