I always get a yeast infection during the week before my period. I've been to the doctor the multiple times and there isn't anything wrong that they can pinpoint. I've always been told by the doctors that some people are just prone. My mother has the exact same problem. Always in the week before our period to varying degrees of severity. Sometimes I need to treat it, other times I can wait it out and if I can make it to my period my body will usually correct itself. Does anyone else experience these types of problems?

I have had recurring yeast problems over the last 7 years and had yeast related trauma (known as vulvodinia). Eventually it got better and resolved and I didn't have any yeast infections for years until recently. What helped was changing underwear frequently, showering after intercourse, and using the pull out method during intercourse. When we started TTC it was fine, but then the last few months of TTC I had some yeast issues and had a yeast infection early in this pregnancy. I feel more irritated now during pregnancy, too.
I have no immunodeficiencies and no known reason why this happens. My sister has had similar issues - my OB thinks it's just my body. There are apparently some over the counter products to help balance your Ph. I never tried them but might post-pregnancy.

@Beyond2 and @WinnieBee I too have somewhat recurrent yeast infections. They didn't happen often while I was on the pill, but since TTC it seems they happen about every other month. Like you guys, my mother has always had the same issue. If you have any additional suggestions for prevention I'd love to hear them. I'm going to start trying the shower after sex I think. Thanks!
