That's what my sister said to me today when I showed her I'm getting a bump. I'm used to her contradicting everything I say, but this one stung for some reason.
I told her that, for future reference, no pregnant woman wants to hear that they look bloated. (I would think that's a given).... She didn't apologize

People are strange. My parents had a hard time with my pregnancy weight gain (!!) and said all kinda of terrible things to me in passing. My dad spent most of my pregnancy telling me I didn't look pregnant so much as I looked "chubby", "fat", and finally "enormous".

Ugh, I'm sorry. If it wasn't your sister that said it, I'd say a rude comment back would be in order. But I am mentally a two year old about such things and have no problem giving a rude commenter a taste of their own medicine. The "high road" and I aren't really aquiantences.
Sometimes it's the ones we love the most that can say the most hurtful things. I'm sure you're going to be a beautiful pregnant lady!

The WORST! When I was about 24 weeks and had a good little bump my cousin said "You don't even look pregnant, you just look fat!"

2 days ago (I'm 24 weeks) a friend told me that my bump could easily just be chub. Awesome. Thanks! And she said it like it was a good thing....
I can't believe your sister said it though. I totally would've called her out on it like you did!

@2PeasinaPod: Well, as long as she is married to her husband, they won't get pregnant. He had a vasectomy after his daughter was born (1st marriage), so they can't have kids now.

Yeah, that makes sense- she must be super jealous then. Now I feel kinda bad for her and what she's missing out on. (yes, I can still say that after yet another round of puking this morning).
She's still a huge brat to say that to you, but know that she must want what you have so, so badly.

When people make comments like that, I tend to think they come from a place of jealousy, so I just give them a sympathetic look in response. I've gained most of my weight in my belly and people literally stop me on the street to compliment me about that and it really bothers me. I have no control over how my body chooses to pack on the pounds and while I'm glad that I don't look 'fat' I thikn it's totally wrong and inappropriate for people to make those comments.
